Rommel (formally Survival Products) has simply merged with their parent owner of Ace Hardware and has moved into their newly renovated store off College Avenue. Closed at that location only - building is up for sale.
I also noticed Midway RV (across from Wor Wic Community College) has now vacated their building on Rt. 50. Right after they vacated the premises - a For Sale Sign is now up.
Another business closure - Delaware Lumber - is also located directly across the street from Midway RV. (two large vacant buildings).
I swear, it seems that for every new employer - there are three businesses closures.
This particular business isn't closing. It was bought out by Rommel and moved to east college beside ace hardware. One can only assume they probably own the commercial property there
Midway rv. Is not completely out of business. Our owner passed away late last year and the torch was passed to his son. Faced with debt as any business restructuring for survival in a harsh economy. The son made the decision to move retail sales to Delaware to rid the business of "inventory tax". One could only imagine the "tax bill" on a few million dollars of recreational equipment that wasn't moving. The service center located across the street is still alive and kicking.I happen to have happily been a part of this business for over 18 years. The retail sales is now located in laurel Delaware.
That area is too ghetto and the client base will feel more comfortable in a shopping center. Proximity to SU is key too as there is a large customer base with unlimited disposable income.
Salisbury and Wicomico County are now in deep doo-doo as far as business and commerce goes. Why would anyone with common sense locate here instead of Sussex County except fast food joints and dollar stores.
Inventory tax? I thought Wicomico dropped that tax about a year or so ago - so why did Midway open up a branch in Delaware. I thought I saw a Midway RV sign up near Laurel a few days ago.
Well - if that's the case then Midway is yet another business that has relocated to DE.
Bad business location. Amazing Survival Products was able to make a go with it all those years. Going to be hard to unload that property on some poor unsuspecting new business owner. Buying that property will be a guaranteed business failure.

I was going by this business today and saw a sign saying they have moved next door to Ace Hardware. More space for there products. FYI

The new store location has expanded its lines of fireplace equipment and stoves and is really very nicely done!
That area is to crime ridden they had to move.

Fake news. no business purchased and moved. building for sale.
fact or assumption?
Tell Billy to pay his bills!
Moved to a bigger better space. Actually growing.
6:06 - Yes, proximity to SU is key to this business — it’s vary large customer base. SU students are buying up wood pellet stoves left and right.
