WBOC Owner Tom Draper Injured In Crash In Delaware While Riding Bicycle

Milford - The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a serious crash involving a bicyclist.

Preliminary investigation reveals the incident occurred around 7:35 a.m. Thursday September 7, 2017 when Thomas H. Draper, 76 of Milford, was bicycling eastbound on Slaughter Beach Road in the area of Wells Road when he was struck by a 2013 Ford F150 pickup truck operated by Shawn E. Armstrong, 37 of Lewes, who was also traveling eastbound on Slaughter Beach Road. The pickup truck stopped immediately after the collision and called 9-1-1.

Thomas Draper was initially transported to Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital before being airlifted to Baltimore Shock Trauma in critical condition.

Shawn Armstrong was uninjured in the collision.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident. Drug and alcohol use do not appear to be a factor in this case. No charges have been filed at this time. Slaughter Beach Road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

This is truly sad. I thought someone was playing around in a comment earlier, hence my reply. My thoughts and prayers go to Mr. Draper and the entire WBOC Family.

With respect to the WBOC family, comments left on an unrelated post was the first bit of information I heard about this accident. Your site is truly the place for immediate local information, good or bad. I check in hourly on a normal day. You're also a stand up guy. I read your comments upon learning of this, and your comments now. I can't think of prayers of recovery left from competing news sources for another. Ever! Top form, as far as I'm concerned.
As the statement goes on the TV, "I am not a paid spokesman."

I know the guy that hit Draper. He's a stand up guy I'm sure he's pretty upset over the whole thing.

And....this is relevant....how? You vouching for someone's character anonymously means NOTHING. I could come in here and say that Ted Bundy was a great guy and was upset that he killed all of those people. It doesn't change the facts. Again, you state "I know the guy...". Why does everyone have to make everything about THEMSELF? Nobody cares who you know.
