Democrats claim deal with Trump on three month spending, debt ceiling fix

Democratic leaders said Wednesday that President Trump and Republicans have agreed to a deal to lift the nation's borrowing limit and continue government funding through December 15.

The package will be paired with $8 billion in Hurricane Harvey disaster aid.

"In the meeting, the president and congressional leadership agreed to pass aid for Harvey, an extension of the debt limit, and a continuing resolution both to Dec. 15, all together," said House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. "Both sides have every intention of avoiding default in December and look forward to working together on the many issues before us."

Republicans had yet to comment on the apparent agreement, which came just hours after House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said a three-month solution on the debt ceiling would be "ridiculous."

The deal comes after Democrats declared they would not support a debt ceiling increase longer than three months because they are eager to negotiate wish list items, including Obamacare funding and immigration reform.

This was the perfect time to hold the Democrats to no spending hike in National spending and still pay for Harvey. But instead allowed the Democrats toad to the National deficit instead of reduce spending and transferring pork barrel spending to cover Harvey. This was poor negotiating skills by Trump.

remember the Republicans wanted to wait 18 months. Trump keeps putting things back on Congress and the Senate where it exposes them front and center.

Nothing ever changes in the swamp. Even those who go to drain the swamp have to eventually swim in the swamp. Just the way it works. I hate democrats and typically would not like this deal. However, I trust Trump at this point and will let this one go!! But this cannot be the norm.
