Nine School Systems faces fewer construction dollars over next three years

Nine school systems, including Frederick County, could see their share of state school construction funding decrease over the next three years.

The Maryland Board of Public Works is scheduled to approve recommended state levels for school construction cost-sharing at a meeting Wednesday.

The percentage of funding for nine school systems will decrease: Frederick, Carroll, Dorchester, Harford, Howard, St. Mary’s, Somerset and Wicomico counties, and the city of Baltimore.

Frederick’s funding will decrease 5 percentage points from the state’s current 64 percent cost-share to 59 percent in fiscal 2019.
