Montgomery County School Superintendent Dr. Jack Smith, under fire for his delayed response to the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl at Rockville High School last week, rakes in a taxpayer funded salary of $275,000, months of paid time off and a whole goody bag full of other pricey benefits.

According to Smith's contract, he receives the following:

-$275,000 salary per year, with a review each year for an increase and pay cannot be reduced

-$40,000 per year paid by the board for his retirement fund

-25 days of annual paid leave which can be rolled over and cashed out

-20 days of sick and/or personal leave per year, which can also be cashed out

-Disability insurance up to $8000 paid by the board

-All school holidays off

-A vehicle for personal and professional use with all "expenses for gasoline, insurance, maintenance, and repairs, in connection with the use of said vehicle" paid for by the school board

Yeah, he has an expense account too.

At a base rate of $5288 a WEEK, those students should all be going to Harvard.
In between rapes and stints at the local prison.
ANOTHER "public service" job that never has to show or produce any results, but gets outlandish pay and regular raises.
Keep cheering.

That is one of the big ugly secrets in this country with the public schools. The administration people are grossly overcompensated.

Ridiculous for anyone working in the school system to be making that much, plus gold benefits. Every time they want more money for the schools, it's supposedly for the chillldren. Looks like yet another case of being too top-heavy on wages.

I lived there for 12 years. It's a county full of rich government employee liberals. When i left it was being being taken over by immigrants from all over the world.

2 points - He can be fired / removed from position "immediately" and would lose all benefits / salary pension lose all annual leave -sick leave - personal leave including accrued without a payout / lose all holiday pay he has not earned or taken / vehicle and its benefits.
For those who says he cannot be removed then I ask what is dereliction of responsibility? He blatantly has refused to institute policies to protect the Children that attends his schools. He accepted that responsibility when he assumed this position. If he is allowed to remain or retire with these benefits we will see who has the "chestnuts".

Do you honestly think anyone in Montgomery County has the "chestnuts" to fire this guy? BTW, I have this bridge in Brooklyn that's for sale.

tell me why/how can this coverage come from AHC.
But, it does.

This contract is normal for US counties who rank 1 or 2 for population as well as wealth. Nothing new here and if they fired him, someone would take his place either making what he made or MORE!!!!

3:02 - He is protecting the illegal man children. That is what seems to be the priority in this country now!! So he is doing a splendid job. Montgomery is a cesspool now.
