THOMAS FRANK LURIE, JR. CONVICTED OF FIRST DEGREE BURGLARY, ARMED ROBBERY AND FIRST DEGREE ASSAULT

On October 5th, 2016, Thomas Frank Lurie, Jr., age 46, was convicted by a Wicomico County Jury of First Degree Burglary, Armed Robbery, Robbery and First Degree Assault. On August 3rd, 2009, at approximately 1:20 in the morning, Deputies and Detectives from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located on Snow Hill Road in Salisbury, Maryland for a home invasion in progress. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victims, a couple in their mid-eighties, along with their three great grandchildren. The victims advised the deputies that two men, wearing hooded sweatshirts and sunglasses, had broken into their home and demanded money. The eldest victim, who was 86 years old at the time and his 14 year old great grandson, in an attempt to protect their family, fought with the perpetrators. In the course of the altercation, the 86 year old victim was struck in the head, suffering a fractured skull. At that time, there were no identifiable suspects; however, in November of 2015, Thomas Frank Lurie, Jr. was identified as a suspect through the course of the continuing investigation. Lurie’s DNA was found to be a match to DNA recovered from pieces of evidence found at the crime scene.

Sentencing has been postponed in this matter. The defendant, Thomas Frank Lurie, Jr. is being held at the Wicomico County Detention Center pending sentencing. Lurie is facing a maximum of 55 years in prison.

Wicomico County State’s Attorney, Ella M. Disharoon, commended the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, and specifically, Detective Robert Wilson, for their ongoing work in the investigation and prosecution of this case. Mrs. Disharoon prosecuted the case.
