CDC: Teen Birth Rates Plunge, But Racial Disparities Persist

NEW YORK (AP) — Birth rates are falling dramatically for black and Hispanic teenagers, but they continue to be much higher than the birth rate for white teens.

The Hispanic teen birth rate fell by half over about eight years, and the black teen birth rate dropped nearly that much. But even with those declines, the white teen birth rate is still only half as high, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Thursday.

“Despite this historic progress, profound disparities remain,” said Bill Albert, chief program officer for the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy.

The teen birth rate has been falling since 1991, which experts attribute to more teens using birth control and more waiting until they are older to have sex. But in the new report, the CDC focused on 2006 through 2014 — the most recent phase of the decline, when the fall was steepest.

Because like they tell on the Murray show, having more babies gets them more money from the system.

My wife used to teach health at a local high school and on one occasion a student was asked what her goals were in life. The reply she gave was "To have more babies than her mother so she could get more welfare". Until we stop rewarding this kind of behavior the cycle of poverty and ignorance will continue.

1046, my disdain for the both you mentioned is equal, however you can not blame them for this. This starts at home, the parents, the ease of which one can have a child and have no consequences. Those are to blame. Like 0729 stated, we need to stop rewarding this type of behavior.

The mass production of Welfare Queens continues in spite of the Liberals claiming it to be a myth. Just amazing how our society placates these attitudes. It's no mystery that this begins at home but as a society we allow it to continue by voting in the same career politicians year after year. Only when we stop doing so, will this whole situation change permanently.
