Hume on Emails: ‘Not a Huge Case,’ ‘You Don’t Have Any Criminal Intent’

Monday on Fox News Channel’s “Outnumbered,” while discussing the possibility of Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton being indicted as a result of the current FBI investigation into her handling of classified material on an unsecured email server during her tenure as secretary of state, Fox News senior political contributor Brit Hume said there were enough questions about the circumstances of Clinton’s case that an indictment isn’t a slam dunk.

Partial transcript as follows:

HUME: Worth remembering, David Petraeus was convicted of a misdemeanor. Now that was bargained down no doubt. But if you look at—I read various legal analyses of these—and a good case can be made there is an indictable felony here, and very good case can also be made there is not. My guess is that she won’t be indicted.

HARRIS: Agreed.

HUME: Think about this for a minute. If you come down to it, and she is nominated by one of the major parties, and you have not a huge case, and you don’t have any criminal intent, are you going to indict? Is it wise to indict a nominee of a major party? Is that the right way to do it? Is that the right thing to do?

I'm stunned that Brit Hume would take such a position.
I'm disappointed.

Intent is not a requirement for conviction. I'm not saying she will be indicted, but there are more than enough violations in evidence.

Once trump is the nominee the Republican establishment will shut all this down to help Hillary.

"intent" is now a qualifier for prosecution?
Not for "we, the people".
I suppose we should release all the people who did crimes, but never "intended" any harm? Like drunk drivers who have killed someone?
TWO SETS OF LAWS.
We go to prison, they run for President.
Keep cheering.

A: Yes; The riddance of corruption and self-enrichment in gov't has to start somewhere, a major party leader would be ideal; Of course it is, sending a profound message will convey the people's absolute demand; Again, of course it is, to kill a snake you cut off it's head.

Hume is usually astute. Missed this by a mile.

She was in White House 8 years. Senator 8 years after that. Yale Law grad who eventually passed a bar exam.

She knew full well what steps were required to comply with data requirements and had immediate access to thousands of employees to answer any questions. Instead she rigged a system for her benefit to avoid leaving foot and finger prints about her actions as a Cabinet member.

In irons & throw away the key. If you're inclined to mercy, Huma can be her cellmate.
