A Message From Sheriff Mason & The Worcester County Sheriff's Office

The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Mason want to remind you to be very vigilant in your travels and your everyday activity. With the recent events in this country involving “Active Shooters”, we want to remind you what you can do to remain as safe as possible. The most important lesson is to stay alert. Pay attention to your surroundings when you’re out and about. Know your exits when entering stores or business establishments. Report suspicious activities or person(s) immediately to Law Enforcement. Our greatest intelligence is you. We unfortunately live in a world that requires a different outlook than what we faced 20 years ago. Sheriff Mason is steadfast in his promise to provide you with the best protection he can provide. Our public schools have School Deputies assigned to them to protect our children during the school year. They have been trained by our Active Shooter Trainers and we have partnered with our local Law Enforcement agencies to make sure they are protected during school activities. We are in constant contact with our Board of Education partners, and have formed a partnership with them to continue a close working relationship which trains their staff in the event of an incident.

A common phrase being repeated in the event of an Active Shooter incident is Run, Hide, or Fight. This terminology is often used during our training and is described as proactive measure that can taken should you be faced with a critical incident situation. We ask you to think about these phrases. We are now faced with different threats in this country that we have never faced in years past . It is our hope that being vigilant and reporting anything suspicious to Law Enforcement will prevent a situation which could result in loss of life. Our agency continues to follow intelligence reports from the FBI, State and Local Law Enforcement, and tragic events like San Bernardino and Colorado for lessons learned. We are taking every step we can to protect those who live, travel and do business in our county. We will continue to train and remain vigilant to prevent these kind of events from happening. We pray it never does.

Start lobbying for concealed carry, that will surely help.

Never happen with current administration.

Unless it's a Muslim kid with a suitcase and clock made to look like bomb.

Muslims need to be told in no uncertain terms, that they WILL be profiled, and with good reason. If they have nothing to hide, it's not going to turn into a witch hunt.

But if they do...they will be held fully accountable.

Why don't you encourage legal gun owners to carry their guns? What are you afraid of?
