4,000 errors found in Maryland gun database

More than 4,000 handguns were not properly recorded in the state's gun database, and auditors warned the mistake could hinder investigations of handgun crimes.

In a new audit of the Maryland State Police released Tuesday, legislative auditors found discrepancies in the two databases for handgun applications and purchases, noting that serial numbers did not match up on 4,000 handguns sold in a 10-month period that ended in March.

The mistakes occurred in about 14.5 percent of the 27,500 gun handgun transactions that took place during that time frame.

The state police don't contest the problem, blaming it on a paper-based system for handgun license and purchase applications that is prone to data entry errors. Often, handwritten information provided by buyers and dealers is hard to read.

I bet if terroist who would attack in MD. They would use 30 or more round mags, and FULLY automatic ARs or AKs. A banned gun for anyone, anywhere USA! Just like out west. Thank God Osmellys not around anymore. He would be humping obamas leg right now for more gun control BS(ps.. I am scared that if Hillary gets Charged. We all know that Bernie won't get the Democratic nomination. So who does that leave standing? God help us)

If someone were to protect me with an 'illegal' weapon, even if he is a 'prohibited' person from owning said weapon, you think I would care? I also wouldn't mind if he had several 30rd mags, the more the better. Gun laws are bs and only hamper freedom and safety, not help it.

Thanks O'Malley! You really knocked it out of the park, curbing gun violence in our state with your new "common sense" laws!

So, now I have to pay your fees, get your horrible training, pay more fees, then wait 6 months to get my firearm... only for it to turn into a complete cluster F?

Bravo, sir, bravo.
