Ivy League Prof Tweets That Ben Carson Should Win ‘Coon Of The Year’

An Ivy League professor said that Ben Carson should win the "coon of the year" after the 2016 hopeful supported allowing Confederate flags at NASCAR events.

In a tweet sent out last Tuesday, University of Pennsylvania religious studies professor Anthea Butler, wrote "If only there was a 'coon of the year' award ..." when responding to Daily Beast editor-at-large Goldie Taylor's tweet containing a link to a Sports Illustrated article on the issue.

"Swastikas are a symbol of hate for some people too … and yet they still exist in our museums and places like that," Carson said during an event with Richard Petty in North Carolina last Monday. "If it's a majority of people in that area who want it to fly, I certainly wouldn't take it down."

And now for another segment of: "When Keeping it Real Goes Wrong."

wtf?!?!

SHE should win 'idiot of the year'...

racism will never stop as long as these 'educators' are 'educating'...

She's obviously not an English professor. Her tweet should read, "If only there were a coon of the year award."

That aside, she's not a full professor, but an associate professor. I would expect that her tenure might be affected by this racist chanting, but in today's academia (or what passes for it,) that's not likely, unless it's a boost to her career at Penn.

Hope she gets fired. But being black has its privileges.

Fifty years ago Ben Carson would not have had the opportunity to run for President, but that's not good enough to the rest of the crabs in the basket. It has been kind of eye opening to me to see how some people within the black community treat those they don't agree with. I don't agree with everything Ben Carson says, but I feel like he comes by his opinions in a thoughtful manner and not in a knee jerk way. I'm glad to see him doing well within the Republican party; more diversity will help squeeze out the old guard and bring new ideas.

She should be fired! That was a racist comment. If Trump would have said it they would have jumped down his throat. When did it become acceptable to say things and get away with it because of the color of HER skin.

She is a mutt.

Yep she should be fired immediately....lets see how racial justice plays out...remember Paula Deen???? Lost her cooking show job over a slang racial remark she made some 20 years before it was brought out. Let's see what happens here.

OMG, if a white person had even uttered that statement, the buildings would be burning down, the riots and looting would already be under way.

Dr. Carson is absolutely correct in his statement. Only small narrow minded individuals that don't even know their own history make statements regarding the southern war flag.

First of all only a narrow minded uneducated moron would try to make a connection between the Swastika and the Confederate Battle Flag. They Battle flag has nothing to do with hatred and I will defend that on my deathbed. My GGGreat Grandfather fought for the State of Virginia because tyrannical idiots invaded their state and tried to take everything they owned. They tried to take their guns and horses from them as well as their crops and they had no say in the matter. They were God fearing church going citizens that worked hard to make a living.

Does any of that sound familiar?

Only someone black could get away with and still have their job after making a racist statement like that. Ben Carson appears to be intelligent and well grounded as an American. If he gets the Republican nomination, he'll have a lot of intelligent voters supporting him. The Confederate flag of the South is no more/no less than the flag flown by the North during the Civil War. It represented separation, those who refused to embrace the others beliefs. Had the North lost the war, would blacks attempt to make everyone hide that flag? The Confederate flag is just another black excuse to promote entrenched, biased, black racism not white racism.

Yes, her mastery of the English language certainly is astounding, isn't it? LOL
It's a shame that affirmative action has allowed "professors" in the colleges that can't even speak English properly. You really have to feel sorry for blacks such as Dr Carson and the few others who must really be ashamed at how low the black race has fallen. Being black anymore is not a thing to be proud of.

Wonder if I vote for Carson he will write me a script

Religious Studies? hahahahahahahahahahahah!

I disagree. I don't think she should be fired for her statements, which are her own beliefs, whether we find them ludicrously offensive or not. She has the right to say what she believes without fear of censure, retribution or mob attacks.

Just as we have the right to say someone ought to be nominated for "N1gg€r of the Year" without having to bawdlerize it. Without being tracked down and destroyed personally, financially, emotionally and even physically, by mindless mobs of savages.

This is why "black privilege" has turned into a tool of oppression and enablement of the parasitic lifestyle. Dr. Carson is an example of what anyone can accomplish, if they have the motivation, morals, and intellectual ability.

I don't listen to racist asshats, so her statements went on the bye road.

RunBenRun!

AND I have a Trump hat as well!

Isn't she a special snowflake! Her students are so lucky to go into hock to listen to the pearls of wisdom she utters.

And to think that this comes from a faculty member of one of the United States' premier seats of learning. I feel shame, having attended the school years ago to get a degree that has taken me places. This woman's one comment has tarnished the university's reputation, as it is indicative of the content and intent of instruction that she delivers.

I agree 100%. Black folks really need to stop hating on one another. You all complain so much about racism from other groups. We need to see and understand why we hate and discriminant against each other.

Blacks are controlled and manipulated by the media who create paranoia and mistrust and murder.
