Why They Hate Us

A frequent theme nowadays is “Why do they hate us?” meaning why does so much of the world detest the United States. The reasons given are usually absurd: They hate our freedom or democracy. They hate us for our cultural superiority. They hate us because we are wonderful.

No. Actually the reason is simple if unpalatable. They hate us because we meddle, and have meddled. They hate us because we are the most murderous nation on the planet. They hate our insufferable smugness.

People remember slights. They may not remember them as they actually happened, but they remember them. The Civil War ended in 1865, the Federal occupation in 1877. Yet today many Southerners are still bitter, to the point that their emotional loyalty is to the South, not to Washington.

And we proved this is true again in Iraq.

What an idiot.

They hate us so much that they want to immigrate to the US.

They hate us so much because we meddle in their natural disasters with relief.

There was a time when the Soviets built a fence so they could keep their people in. Now we need to build a fence to keep people out.

Do the Russians meddle? Ask Crimea.

Do the Iranians meddle? Ask anyone in the Middle East.

Do the Chinese meddle? Ask Japan.

Those living in the Hood, hate us because we are white, and successful.

We were once the most revered and envied of all nations because we stood for freedom for all. We aided weaker nations during natural disasters and when rogue nations tried to take them over. We have national interests abroad in our allied nations. Just because some don't understand the reasons for global alliances doesn't mean they aren't there. Just look at what has happened globally under the current administration's policies (and Clinton's, who sold our military secrets to China). They believe we shouldn't be the only superpower and should negotiate with our enemies. It doesn't work when you're dealing with communists and overzealous, misguided Muslims. If you want peace in the world, it takes a strong good-guy nation which has the guts to stand up to the bully nations of the world and punish them for misbehaving. Sometimes sanctions work, if they're tough enough. But you have to show you mean what you say. We are now portrayed as a nation of wimps and are an embarrassment to our allied nations.

They hate us, but I've noticed they all try to get here.
