STATE FIRE MARSHAL LAUDS EFFORTS OF INVESTIGATIVE AGENCIES RESPONDING TO ASSIST BALTIMORE CITY

The State Fire Marshal Brian S. Geraci arranged to have multiple agencies provide assistance with fire investigations during and after the time of unrest in Baltimore. Fire Investigators with the Office of the State Fire Marshal, Prince George’s County Fire & EMS Department, Prince George’s County Police Department, Frederick County Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Hagerstown Fire Marshal’s Office deployed personnel on a rotating basis to assist on fire scenes and follow up investigations along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Baltimore City Fire Investigations Bureau and Baltimore City Police Arson and Explosives Unit.

As a direct result of these timely investigations into the origin and cause of these fires throughout the city, multiple leads have been developed for persons of interest who may have intentionally set fires to various vehicles and structures.

“The Office of the State Fire Marshal will remain committed in its support of fire and/or explosive investigations along with the Baltimore City Fire Department and the Baltimore City Police Department,” stated Geraci. “The professionalism of fire investigators throughout the State of Maryland that were directly involved with these investigations was a true testament of our core values”.
