Alabama federal judge declines to lift gay marriage order

The battle over gay marriage in Alabama heightened on Monday when a federal judge refused to stay her order to a county judge that he start issuing marriage licenses to gay couples.

U.S. District Judge Callie Granade said in a five-page order that Mobile County Probate Court Judge Don Davis must comply with her previous ruling, which found the state's gay marriage ban to be unconstitutional.

Alabama's all-Republican Supreme Court had contravened that ruling earlier this month. It ordered probate judges to stop issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples, arguing that the ban was constitutional.

The clashing court orders underscore the depth of opposition to gay marriage in socially conservative Alabama. The gay-marriage ban was passed in 2006 by 81 percent of voters.

Homosexuality needs to be medically treated.

Marriage is not an institution to be managed by the federal govt. People are not married nor apply for a federal marriage license but a state license. It should be controlled by the individual states. If they want to join as partners call it a civil union but leave 'marriage' as traditional known alone!!

Yeah, everyone is for civil unions now that the handwriting is on the wall. Same people were having a fit about civil unions when that was proposed.

Just like trying to fix stupid, homosexuality cannot be fixed. This is a disease that we were forced to accept thru the court system and is a problem that won't go away because even though they (meaning homosexuals) feel that they are normal among our community, we know they are not and their encroachment upon the institution of marriage is not natural and should not be allowed. If they want their immoral lifestyle, that's their business but leave the rest of the moral majority alone and leave alone our institution of marriage.

Just like anything else on the liberal agenda
If it's fowl and inmoral they are ALL for it.
