Delmarva Muslim Leader Condemns ISIS Violence

By Dave Toth

A Delmarva resident and Imam from Africa is condemning the brutal ISIS killings that have dominated news headlines recently.

“This is not Islam. It is not how I understand Islam,” he said, while requesting that his identity be kept anonymous for security reasons. “It is very clear in the Qur’an, whoever kills one person is like killing all of humanity, and he who helps one person survive, is like helping all of humanity.”

A Sudanese, African born native, he holds a Master’s Degree in Islamic Studies in addition to a Certification of Memorization of the Qur’an, which he said is only held by about 1 in 1,000 Muslims among the currently estimated 1.6 billion who are active worldwide.Referencing the Qur’an, he emphasized that memorization and understanding are necessary in order to benefit from its message.

He was also quick to distance himself from the terrorists known as ISIS when asked about the relationship he shared to them as a Muslim. The Imam also described the ISIS killings and world violence as being much the same. Describing ISIS to be more like others who commit brutal violence as a common evil presence that exists anywhere in the world, he asked for others to consider violence and brutality unacceptable in any society, and that it is also unacceptable when used against other religions.

“We are not allowed to force anyone to change their religion. That is in the Qur’an. Islam is an open invitation to everybody, but you should not use force,” he said. “The people are free to follow you or to forget about you.”

When asked about Sharia or Islamic Law and its controversial place in America, the Imam expressed an interest in seeing it have a place if people were voluntarily willing to adopt it, while he also suggested that Islam like other religions such as Catholics, Jewish, or Buddhists, are always interested in increasing their membership through active recruitment.

The Imam agreed Muslims are reluctant to speak out against terrorism, and stated he thinks Muslims have been slow to speak because of news media tension which has left many Muslims feeling pressured to apologize.

“I personally think the media and others demand Muslims apologize. This is not fair at all. I should not apologize for something I did not do,” he said

In discussing the burning of a Jordanian pilot that influenced outrage among some Muslims globally the Imam expressed only general disapproval.

“They consider him not a Muslim,” he said, describing ISIS militants’ actions against a fellow Muslim. “They consider him ‘murtadd,’ or somebody who backed away from Islam and now doesn’t deserve to be a Muslim.”

Opposing the concept of one Muslim declaring another person a non-Muslim, the Imam also denounced ISIS for their handling of the Jordanian pilot stating that “only God has the right to judge.”

In looking at the whole picture of the worldas Middle East tension continues to escalate amid increased terrorism activity, the Imam remained sternly focused on his own peaceful approach, while expressing support for opposition to terrorism.

“My peaceful way is stronger than bombing,” he said. “But, we need the law in order to live in peace.”

In an attempt to put Muslims, Christians and other religions all closer together, with each having their own place in the world, he said, “We should think of the world as one place and accept people as they are. We all come from the same God.”

I'm very proud of this Delmarva Muslim leader for speaking out.
It's a shame he can't have a voice without remaining anon. After seeing the atrocities ISIS and other Muslim extremists are capable of committing, it's completely understandable why anonymity is desired.

8:22 You are right with most of that, except he's not "anonymous" because of islam, he's protecting himself from christians and others who would also cause him harm.

Anonymous said...

BS If he was any kind of a leader he would come out publicly with his stance against the extremists!

Anonymous said...

I agree with 8:40 AM

Anonymous said...

I also agree with 8:40,but if this isn't coming out publicly what is?

Anonymous said...

If his congregation or whatever they call it, knows his stance that's what is important. In other words if he is preaching against ISIS at his pulpit in front of his flock, that says a lot.

Anonymous said...

I doubt very seriously if he's afraid of Christians because the ONLY ones who will NOW want to do him any harm are the Muslim extremists. To speak out against their jihad can be a death sentence as been proven time and time again throughout history. Christians and other non Muslims tend to highly respect Muslims who speak out against Muslim extremism.

8:56, You are screwed up in the head.

Funny too, look how many of YOU remain ANONYMOUS on here, especially this Post.

8:28 yeah right, those bad Christians would come and behead him, and you are a clown. Also there is no such thing as "moderate Muslim" only lukewarm Muslims. The same Qu ‘ran this guy is quoting commands them to kill infidels if they don't convert, and to give Jews and Christians the option of converting or, option 1: die, option 2: pay the ongoing Jizzra tax to the local Imam.
That is the truth, look it up.
We cannot allow this Cancer to take root here.

A "Moderate Muslim?" Is that anything like Josh Hastings the "Moderate Democrat?" Oh wait, I mean the "Conservative Democrat." No I meant the "Independent" who had to file as a Democrat to run for office. No I meant the "Conservative Democrat." No wait I meant the "Republican." The same Josh Hastings that started yelling at the Civic Center that he would become a Republican "if you (Republicans) got rid of Joe Albero." You know that threat to cause harm. Yeah, some of you dummies fell for his lies hook line and sinker and guess who is the President of the Wicomico County Republican Club.

You idiots don't learn do you. Democrats lie to get your support just like this Imam is lying right now.

9:07 you changed your rebuttal from 9:02 to 8:56. What do you honestly think?

JoeAlbero said...

9:17, First of all coward, my name is Joe, You can take your 9:07 crap and shove it. I'm at least man enough to use my name, show some respect for that.

Yes, I changed my comment because I had the wrong time/comment. I removed my comment and put up the correct one instead.

Well next time brave guy, please put that information on your changed post. I think we usually agree on most matters, was just was shocked to see the change with no explaination. Have a nice day.

Funny 9:28, considering it was only up for about TWENTY SECONDS I'm amazed at how you are so attracted to this particular Post and felt the need to challenge me on changing the time of the commenter.

I have Muslim friends. Not one of them has tried to convert me. Not one of them supports ISIS. Not one of them wants world domination by Muslims.

The Imam is only semi-anonymous. It would not be hard for ISIS to figure out who he is. He has endangered him to speak up this much. Remember Salman Rushdie and how he had to flee because of the Muslim extremist death sentence on his head?

The Imam's final sentence says it all.

I know and have spoken with the Imam at length about some issues. He is a caring, aware and conscientious person. I personally feel that he demonstrates a certain amount of bravery in coming forth with this. The radical side of Islam does, indeed, condemn those who don't see the religion as they do, and have a history of acting on that condemnation.

LOL 9:08-Maybe a bit soft hearted esp toward animals, but by no one's stretch of the imagination can I be considered a liberal.
Rush and Hannity are too far left for me. I listen to The Micro Effect Radio online, so I think that would put me in the right wing extremism category according to most.
All that put aside, I have no problem what so ever with anyone practicing any religion. They can worship a rock for all I care. I draw the line when someone takes to physically harming and killing others in the name of a religion. Being able to practice your faith, whatever faith that may be without fear of physical harm or without physically harming anyone else in the name of your religion is a fundamental basic of a civil society.

He believes in Islam. His word means nothing. The Koran tells people like him to lie!
He is part of the Caliphate and must be removed from our society.

Of course not. They are here on a mission and you would blow their cover. They would prefer that they give birth to muslims in this country. That is the way they will eventually take over the world.

Anonymous said...

One thing I disagree with, is this Imam is saying Muslims feel pressure from the media and the public to apologize for the actions of ISIS.
No one is saying anywhere to apologize only to condemn.
Don't make excuses for a failure to condemn by twisting what non Muslims are saying. It's not productive and quite frankly it's a bit disingenuous.
If this Imam is sincere he will immediately correct this inaccuracy.

In reading these posts, I guarantee none of you have really read or studied the Qur'an. It's also obvious you have not studied history and the ultimate goals of the Muslim people. Caliphate, to include Sharia law, is the goal of ALL Muslims. They are taught in the Qur'an that anyone who is not a Muslim IS an infidel and must either convert to Islam or be killed. Right now, some areas of the Muslim world allow the infidels that don't convert to pay a tax in order to Live. I pray All of you will search for the Truth, as this article is Not truthful.

Before you are totally mislead and deceived, please do your homework. Never believe what someone says; only what he does. There are many examples of this.

I'm one of the most radical Muslims in the United States. I have zero compassion for the pilot killed. None. He got what he gave.

The Imam is in no danger whatsoever for voicing his opinion.

Unfortunately his opinion is in the contrary to the opinion of those being bombed and killed in their own homelands by foreign occupiers.

Perhaps he lacks perspective. Maybe he should go to the Islamic State and watch the bombs drop around him. He might have a different opinion.

Oh and one more thing. To those who try and insinuate every Muslim is lying to you on behalf of some plot to take you over. Completely false.

We aren't scared of you in the slightest and have zero problem telling you openly what we think about you. Assuming we have to conspire like cowards as your government does implies we have a fear of you.

Don't flatter yourselves. ISIS doesn't control the middle east because you allow it, it controls the middle east in spite of you.

The Iraqi army fell within days after you spent untold resources propping them up. The soldiers you train now will become apart of ISIS later.

Many Americans are becoming Muslim. And they will continue to do so. Eventually they will control the voting and the political system.

And when you ask why they are doing it understand its because of your arrogance and refusal to see as human beings anyone other than yourselves. When you kill peoples children they come to kill you. And no they won't stop until the black flag of the Caliphate flies over your capital building.

I don't trust any of them. Of course some will denounce ISIS ! We already have thousands here. Training camps here. Across the border in mexico is the biggest. I trust no one from there. They've been here quiet and dormant to long to know who is who.
The blacks and whites need to join against but can't because Obama has the blacks focused on race issues.

Bottom line. Goal is world domination; always has been. Don't continue in your ignorance; read world history.

Since I first commented; there have been very informed posts. This is good. At least some of us are educated and understand what is happening to the world, including our homeland.

Unless we can turn them back, we have no future to give our children. This is why it's so important to get this right. Please don't remain in ignorance and believe what Muslims tell you. Look around for yourselves and figure this out.

Used toilet paper has more value than the nonsense the brainwashed cultists call the quran. This is a religion for those who for whatever reason haven't evolved into civilized human beings.
They claim to not be afraid like 5:07 but funny how they hide behind anonymous comments.
Yes you are afraid 5:07 and so are the ISIS beheaders who hide behind hoods.
It's one thing to post anon but to post anon while saying you aren't afraid is a sure sign that you are in fact afraid as well as being the true definition of a coward.
That's the problem with you muslims. You are cowards in reality. You talk a big talk but don't walk the walk. Never have.
When the Marines in Iraq shot the insurgents dead and left their rotten stinking bloody bodies in the streets for the wild dogs to enjoy for dinner, the insurgents ran away and all was peaceful for awhile.
No sense in arguing with cultists like 5:07 though.

The Imam twists his own words as he speaks...since he did not reveal himself he eliminates his reality or sincerity...Actually I saw little truth in what he said... He is one of only a thousand muslims qualified to interpret the Koran? out of their billions? This is not a religion...this is not even possible for a person to follow if it is so complicated...11:47 said it right...this guy is not to be trusted...read and study for yourself ,,,mohammed of ancient times could not have devised anything so complicated as this imam suggests...

Even of they don't believe like ISIS ....they still believe in marrying a girl once she can bare a mans weight. Ask this imam how many wives and how old they were when he " entered " them.pedophilia and war. Period. Read it. I have. Know your enemy by studying them.
