Critics say Common Core includes collecting psych data on kids

A little-known aspect of Common Core should have students worried about what goes on the dreaded "permanent record," say critics of the national education standard.

Parents in Pennsylvania have written outgoing Gov. Tom Corbett to demand a moratorium on the collection of what they describe as sensitive and personal information on students, which they say is part of a federal database to track the development of every child. And education activists around the nation say it is part and parcel of the controversial campaign to impose a uniform, national standard for math and English.

“This follows them from the cradle to the grave,” said Tracy Ramey, of Pennsylvanians against Common Core. Her group, along with Pennsylvanians Restoring Education, recently wrote Corbett to demand the shutdown of the state’s Pennsylvania Information Management System (PIMS) in all 500 school districts.

“What’s alarming is what they are doing with the data,” Ramey said.

I tell both my boys to just write what they want to hear and never, never express your personal views. They want you to write your thoughts each day in a journal. They have learned early to never express their thoughts on the bullshit that goes on in the educational system. don't criticize political correctness, and never criticize black history month which is racist to all racial groups. I was told in a teachers conference years ago, there is no freedom of speech in the schools. They have learned early that what is said at home, stays at home.

the Worcester County Common Core Corps is dedicated to exposing this travesty - don't believe an elected school board is any better than the appointed board. Anyone interested in joining us? WorcesterCountyTeaParty.com

Today I have a family member meeting with School officials about this very topic.

His daughter was not doing well with reading so the school had her diagnosed with a learning disability. The problem with this is that they never notified the parents of this "Diagnosis" nor can they even say who it was that diagnosed her.

this child when put in an after school private course learned to read just fine. The parents argument is that the Child did not have a learning disability but instead the school has a teaching disability with this common core BS.

Parents are even getting letters sent home basically stating that you should not help your students with their homework if you don't show them how to do things the common core way.

More reason to put your kids in either a private school if you can afford it, or have them home schooled. Government is trying to brain wash our kids to not think for themselves. An educated person is now a threat to the system.

Dear Anon 8:08 -

With regard to your family member meeting on this subject with school administration, have them simply type up and sign a dated letter expressing that they do not wish to have their child tested and that the school provide an alternate assessment. They won't like this one bit but the law in Maryland states that students must be assessed, but they DO NOT have to take the Common Core tests (or whatever it will be called this to camouflage it) - a like to a pre-prepared form letter can be found at:

Have them go to the link and go to the end of the article - form letters are there and free for use.
