Average Affordable Care Premiums Going Up In 2015

WASHINGTON (AP) — Many people covered under President Barack Obama's health care law will face higher premiums next year, the administration acknowledged Thursday. While the average increases are modest, it's more fodder for the nation's political battles over health care.

Officials stressed that millions of current HealthCare.gov customers can mitigate the financial hit if they're willing to shop around for another plan in a more competitive online marketplace. Subsidies will also help cushion the impact.

It's currently taking an average of 30 minutes for returning customers to update their coverage.

Premiums for the most popular type of plan are going up an average of 5 percent in 35 states where Washington is running the health insurance exchanges this year and will do so again in 2015, said a report from the Department of Health and Human Services.

I've had health insurance for 32 years and it has gone UP EXPONENTIALLY EVER year SINCE OBAMACARE WAS IMPLIMENTED, this so it's Obamacare compliant.
It's not ever done that before and it went for years and years without being raised even.
Now I pay more than 4x what I did, but I'm covered for an IUD (52 yrs old), tattoo removal (don't have any and will not ever get any) and drug and alcohol treatment (not ever been a problem, won't ever be.)
I should at least rejoice that my CareFirst plan is grandfathered.
Have friends' whose plans aren't grandfathered.
Went to broker who led them to MD exchanges. Wife's premiums are going to be about $150 more then they were per month. Husband's less $9 what they were. Deductible went from $1200 to $7000 and there's a question that several of their meds aren't covered which will cost them now about a $110 a month.
What was affordable for them before is becoming not so affordable.
