Troopers Investigate Apparent Suicide Milford

Milford - The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the death of a Milford resident which occurred at a residence in the 8000 block of Slaughter Beach Road, Milford early this morning.

The incident began on Friday, September 12, 2014 at approximately 4:25 a.m. after Troopers were dispatched to a residence in the 8000 block of Slaughter Beach Road, Milford. Troopers responded to the residence after the 9-1-1 center received a call from a male subject who advised that he was armed and was intending to harm himself and any first responders arriving at the house.

Troopers arrived to find the house fully engulfed with heavy fire. Troopers established a perimeter around the home, evacuated neighboring residents and closed several roads in the area as a precaution.

Firefighters from Memorial Fire Company of Slaughter Beach, Carlisle Fire Company of Milford, Ellendale Fire Company, and Milton Fire Department were escorted and provided scene safety and security by Troopers in close proximity to the residence, where they were able to suppress the fire.

After the fire was extinguished, Troopers and Marshals from the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office located the body of the 39 year old male within the residence. The body of the 39 year old male was removed from the scene and turned over to investigators from the Delaware Department of Safety and Homeland Security Division of Forensic Science (DFS) for positive identification and determination of the cause and manner of death.

Troopers continue their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of the next of kin.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

This man who died happens to be my uncle. It is under investigation whether or not he killed himself. Please keep our family in your prayers
