Sidewalk Project In Salisbury An Embarrassing Joke

For MONTHS now this sidewalk project along Rt. 13 has been slowly dragging along.

I spoke to a contractor who told me they should be achieving at least 500 feet of sidewalk per day.

Could these be Obama "Shovel Ready" Workers instead?

This was merely a sidewalk project? With all the equipment and such you'd think they were replacing water mains and sewers as well! What a mess!

Did you speak with the Contractor who won the bid or a Contractor who does not know the circumstances of the project he perceives as "slow"? Jobs of this type are generally put out on bids. Perhaps that is where this story should start. What it appears may not be what it is.

I am not excusing it, but they are doing drainage projects first.. then side-walks... I wish they would speed it up.. the drains are getting installed now--so hopefully the can start on the easier stuff and get that road paved soon

Yeah i cant even walk on the sidewalk for months and almost got hit by a car.

This doesn't appear to be much different than the Naylor Mill extension on the west side of town (in the county)...that project doesn't look like it has had any progress for months either.....

I own a buissness there and we are losing thousands, but everyone knows the mayor is anti buissness, guess its part of his plan.

I pass the sidewalk construction inconvenience daily an I agree with you, then you made the suggestion that the President could be at faul???t ....The hate runs deep huh

2 whom?

Surprize"s me that the companies are keeping quiet. I would be all over city hall.

It's about correcting the storm water drainage that's still a mess

This is a total PITA - they tie up traffic (one lane) at 5pm is no fun, looks horrific, and for it to just be a sidewalk project why in the devil must it take forever and go on and on.

You think this is slow? What about the west side collector road extension to connect to Levin Deshield rd? They built the bypass in less time that that short run of road! I bet it's been 4 years in the making.

Even when they get the storm water drainage supposedly corrected, is it still going to flood? My bet, YES.

They must be on a Obama golf break.

one thing everyone needs to know is that a company can start a job and then they will start adding more on and call it a change order then one after another change, order change, order change, order then a project that started out maybe 250.000 is now up to about 2.5 mill with all the change orders they have to install. that is how a lot of company's get to screw the state and city out of money

Business owners who are affected;get together on this and get a law firm on it right away.DO NOT get a local firm.

you can thank omalley and conway for this. conway took the counties road money and gave it to Baltimore and DC for light rail. Wicomico had borrow money to replace what was taken to do the next phase of this collector.
you just keep voting em all in, enjoy the rewards! ....i mean debt

7:22 - What's your business? Let me know so I can never shop there again and tell my friends, family, and colleagues as such too

7:22 What does the mayor have to do with a state project?

Anonymous said...

It's a State Highway project and the City has nothing to do with it.

Anonymous said...

Must be a union job and they are paid by the hour.

Why would you boycott a business speaking out and being honest? Local good ol' boys club leader, are you? This town has been in a spiral down the toilet for years. We all watch and hope for better but with liars, cheaters and morally corrupt leaders....what do we expect?

2:14 It will stay that way (and needs to) until you start raising children that have an ounce of work ethic. The trash that's coming out of the public AND private schools here is a joke. Zero ethic, zero respect, zero common sense. So, yes, keep the HISPANIC labor coming.

8:50 AM You footing the Lawyer Bill

LOWEST BID = SLOWEST WORK!!!! You get what you pay for!

Anonymous said...

There are more problems in Salisbury then worrying about what a sidewalk looks like!

I just walked by the sidewalk project in Cambridge. Their making progress, but none of the 4 workers were speaking english!

Anonymous said...

That's correct its a state project city has no control of it!!! Find another person to blame instead of the Mayor or County....time for you sad sacks to find another horse to ride for your troubles!!!!

Anonymous said...

you should see my sidewalk.

County working in the city???

Why don't we all support the businesses being affected and help keep job and support our local businesses until this is over and things are back to normal.
