BREAKING NEWS: High Speed Chase

Several Police Officers are involved in a high speed chase on Rt. 13 heading north. He is currently heading north east in a dark colored van. Fruitland Police put down spike strips but the suspect missed it. He is driving even in the south bound lane and almost hit a friend head on. Hopefully we'll have a press release soon. BE CAREFUL!

UPDATE: He is now heading south bound. Fruitland Police are putting out spike strips. He is flying past Police. Green van, white male and swerved around spike strips AGAIN. This is LIVE from the Nina Lane area. At least 30 cops chasing him.

This is exactly why high speed chases should be against the law. Granted the suspect has done something wrong in the first place. But to aggravate the situation by chasing him thru traffic is stupid. Why the heck endanger others who can't drive to start with buy doing a high-speed chase. Nine times out of ten The police know who he is. Wait till he goes home and get him.
Then let out with Get On The Ground, Get On The Ground, Let Me See Your Hands, Let Me See Your Hands. Where nobody else gets hurt.
If he's that big of a danger...Shoot Him like a rabid animal. The Highway is no place to play Games.

They got the guy(s), had them pulled over in the South Autozone parking lot.

Yea you're right. We should let all criminals go if they run and just arrest em later. That's the answer. You are a prime example of what is wrong with this country today. Sheeple.

Anonymous said...

9:51 where do you get your facts that 9 times out of 10 cops know who the driver is... I guess they should just let him go right.... I bet your opinion would be different if the guy were running after killing your loved one. Moron.

The asswipe almost hit me in a head on collision on 13 hope he hits a lamp post and gets killed...POS.

Agreed lol

If you listened to the scanner the guy called 911 saying he was armed and would shoot also possible murder suspect so yea ok maybe we should let him go really

Anonymous said...

If he's dangerous enough to run high speed through neighborhoods with 25 mph speed limits, then he's dangerous enough to pursue and get off the road now rather than later at home. He was running at least 75 in a 25 when he passed in front of our business.

I'm Sorry. I forgot. Endangering/killing innocent bystanders is ok, As long as they immediately get their man.
Never said Just let him go. Speeding down a highway in traffic is not the answer. Try following back at a safe speed and pick your safe 'Take down" spot.
So this thinking makes me a "Moron". That's cool.
Sticks and Stones will break my bones, But names will never hurt me. HaHaHaHa!

I live on Nina and was driving down Main St. I was the only one on the road heading towards Nina when the police officer in front of me drove into the grassy area, turned his lights on -Jumped out of his car and ran over to the side of road to throw nail strip down. I knew something was not good but I honestly had no idea what to do, I was driving past the officer looking at him waiting for him to look at me and help me- The next thing I knew this vehicle came flying up- Saw the nail strip and jumped into my lane head on. The first thought I had was, my sons are at St. Francis, who will know to pick them up. I drove onto the sidewalk and hit a parked SUV (lightly, luckily). There must have been 20 or more police cars following this vehicle. I called 911 and two officers came, took pics etc. One of them was the guy who laid the nail strip down. He asked if I was okay- I said I was scared, he said, "You are scared, imagine how I felt, not being in a car and having to put that nail strip down?" I said to him because he put that nail strip down I was almost killed and no one even noticed. Something to think about, for sure. I support our police 100 percent, but this new guy needs some training, please!!

I dont think anyone is saying let them go but high speed chases are dangerous to innocent people. ...I to was almost hit by this chase on my way to work.

Anonymous said...

possibly a nut case.

Exactly! Running that fast because being "chased" in traffic.

Anonymous said...

Yup morron

Dumb dumb dumb...

Just place a speed camera on the shoulder, take the picture, then send him a ticket in the mail. Ocean City is just as bad. Only 3 roads out of town but they insist on a chase.

10:53. I am sorry to hear about you very minor incident and I am happy it was not worse for you, however, you were not almost killed because an officer put down a nail strip. You were almost killed becuase a criminal was fleeing and endangering all he passed. People like you are part of what is wrong with our world. Stop blaming the police and start blaming the thugs who are responsible for initiating the Police response.

Did they get him

10:53, if you see someone putting stop sticks down, GET THE HECK OUT OF THE WAY!!!

What were you thinking just looking at the officer waiting for "help?"

If you see something like that, GET THE HECK OUT OF DODGE!

When does common sense take over for you? Apparently never by your story.

Unknown said...

Did they get him yet

How could it possibly be a white male? They are all upstanding citizens by birth.

There was an all Black avenger with a couple of passengers and a Florida licence plate that blockaded half of the lane so when as the van approached the end of construction zone it had no other choice then to pull into the auto zone I was two cars behind them an after what I read about this guy I believe they saved the day if I could thank them personally I would god bless that everyone made it out ok

He wasn't wearing his seatbelt!

11:26- He did almost hit me head on at about 75 mph because in fact a nail strip was laid out on his side of the road and he saw it and swerved into my lane-Made sense to him, made sense to me- I just did not want to get hit. The officer didn't put the strip across the entire road. I can assure you, people like me are not what is wrong with the world.

11:35- Luckily common sense was on my side and I drove onto the side walk and into a parked vehicle rather than be hit head on. But, you are right- Get the heck out of the way- There was just no warning, happened in seconds and if you know Main St. there is not a whole lot of space to get out of the way.

How do you know that 9 times out of 10 they know who it is? Can you please confirm where you got this data? Please cite your source so that normal people don't think you are an idiot just making up things as you go.

So this criminal snatches your 6 year old daughter up from the sidewalk and you don't want the police to chase the suspect?

Well if they kidnap my child I want the police to do anything they can to get her back.

Also if you are to ignorant to react to situations then maybe you shouldn't be driving!

You are an idiot! But on the same note most blacks are just the opposite.

With so many cops around, maybe someone could have been warning the local traffic away from the area. Then the Nina Lane lady wouldn't have been wondering what was going on & what to do. People who were just coming up on all this commotion had no idea what was going on, but all those police sure did. Think of ALL the public's safety, not just your chase.

Funny how all these innocent bystanders who were almost KILLED by the cops chasing a criminal jumps right on this blog to tell their survival story.

Anonymous said...

12:31... I was thinking the same thing! This'll lead to a frivolous lawsuit because society is full of whine bags and people with zero common sense.

Anonymous said...

Funny you had to say something ignorant. I saw this with my own eyes. Flying through the intersection at the royal farms on snow hill road. I was pull out off the parking lot onto snow hill road when they flew by. Scary. ...I agree that will all the officers in pursuit (and there was plenty) someone could have been clearing the road ahead.

Anonymous said...

Until it happens to u ASSWIPE.

Anonymous said...

how do you clear ahead of a suspect when you have no idea where they are headed?

Anonymous said...

I guess it wouldn't be smart to use the multi million dollar state police helicopter with multi spectrum cameras on board for reacting in such situations. I guess its only used as an high dollar ambulance and shouldn't be used to track criminals at safe distances in such situations?

Studies have shown this type of police work is out dated and extremely dangerous to the public hence the reason police agencies in California and across the nation have already barred high speed chasses. They simply use the high tech gadgets we the public spend million if not billions on. Such as using a helicopter and police cars staying at safe distances .

You can run but one thing you can't do is hide from the eye in the sky.

10:51 he had a bullet proof vest on, he may have been on his way to shot people, so your damned if you do and dammed if you don't. Monday morning quarter backs like you are the problem in this county, go out to Furgusion where someone may actual sympathize with you.

Anonymous said...

10:53 glad you weren't hurt, but how would you have felt if this guy went to a school and started shoot kids? Would you then want him stopped? I agree with 11:26 blame the criminal not the cop in this case. Dam liberals.

Anonymous said...

I actually think the police handled this pretty well I was at the intersection by royal farms and before the criminal came flying by there was an officer waving us out of the way. Glad they got the guy and no one was hurt on the other hand do they really need so many officers in pursuit that almost seemed was more hazardous some vehicles weren't even equipped with lights you can't tell the good guys from the bad guys?

Anonymous said...

What he do

Anonymous said...

B.S. Public Safety must think of Public Safety, not adreneline. If it was known that this person was a serious risk, then he should have been taken off the road at the first chance, if he had a kidnapped person as one posted, would a high speed pursuit benefit the kidnapped? Others have posted it, maintain surveillance until you have eyes in the sky, then slack off and redirect. If this originated in Fruitland, than there is not much to say as at least one Officer there seems to operate on a quota of at least one arrest a night.

Deshawn Darling was the driver.

Ummm... Clear the road ahead?? How do you think they knew where he was going dumb dumb?? If they were mind readers then they would have been able to stop him earlier. I bet you voted for Obama didn't you Einstein!

Because the police can predict the exact route that a criminal they are chasing going to take....makes perfect sense.

I heard they were fixing to transport a drunk who fell off a bar stool at Seacrets. The Ocean City Fire Department rarely transports by ambulance anymore. Mike Maykrantz was using one of the ambulances to transport 3 drunk girls in bikini's to M.R. Ducks.

Murder

Mark Twain once said: "COMMON SENSE AIN'T TOO COMMON said...

One of those in pursuit was traveling down Camden Avenue near Main Street; lights and siren activated, but going at least 70-75 miles per hour...

The area is designated 35 miles per hour and is heavily traveled by person on foot, jogging with pets, walking with babies, ect....

I think it would be a serious incident for this HOT ROD Sherriff to have run into and over pets chasing after a criminal claiming he would kill himself....God Help you and the State of Maryland should you hit me and my DOG as we run through that area chasing after a Punk-Bad Guy wanting to kill himself....

And God Help you if I can still move after you run over me...
