Adrian Peterson's mother defends her son by saying 'when you whip someone you love it's about love'

Adrian Peterson's mother defended the Minnesota Vikings running back in the wake of child abuse allegations against him, saying that he is 'trying hard to be a good parent'.

Bonita Jackson of Spring, Texas, said she and Peterson's father, Nelson Peterson, were 'big disciplinarians' who used hands, switches and belts to occasionally spank all six of her children.

Jackson, 50, said most parents discipline their children a little excessively sometimes, but they are trying to prepare their children 'for the real world'.

I agree , but , maybe they a talking about mental scars.
I think a kid needs a good ass whippin when they do something really bad. Maybe it will keep them out of jail in the future.
Depends on culture also , for instance , if your black you gotta a lot of kids asses to whip.

She raised a son, who has 7 children by almost as many women. Hell, he didn't even meet his 2 year old son who got beat to death...sounds like she sure raised a "winner".

In the "real world" and not behind closed doors, you are arrested for assault and battery, and jailed. If that is what they are preparing their kids for, then the parents should go to jail to demonstrate what happens to people that physically assault other people. That should be THEIR lesson.

Parents should be able to disipline their children the way they want. Spankings included. Beating is a different story. Did AP beat his child because he used a switch? I dont think so. Is a 4 year old to young for a switch? Yes I think it is. But many of us grew up fine getting spankings with hands, belts, and switches. Thats the way AP grew up and was doing what he knew. I do believe however that 4 is to young to use anything but an open hand spanking.

It irritates me every time I hear or read someone say "I was beaten as a child and I turned out OK.". Not everyone that was ever beaten or disciplined turned out OK. Look at how many are in our prisons for assault, rape, murdered, etc. As a child we learn from our parents. As parents we should teach our children that it's not okay to hit others.
