US Postal Service: Over $47 Billion In Losses In The Past Decade; $44 Billion Capital Deficiency

Curious what pure, unadulterated government efficiency in practice, if not in theory, looks like? Then the following chart of USPS operating profits, pardon, losses over the past decade should be sufficient. The punchline: having generated revenues of nearly $700 billion in the past 40 quarters, the USPS has been bleeding red ink more or less consistently since 2006, and has now generated just over $47 billion in operating losses over the past ten years.

Like I said before , another unsuccessful government institution. Good ole government employees doing nothing all day.

One could argue that perhaps the Post Office provides a public service that is not quantifiable by internal profits alone, similar to the school system or public transit. These services invest in the community in order to turn a profit elsewhere. Just a thought.

Looks like the unreasonable salary and benefits are catching up with the USPS.

5:13 so you think the current education system is a wise investment ... considering the abuse and mis-management of the funds already provided..the constant increases to maintain the almighty bloated upper mangement and continue the useless cycle of waste fraud and abuse ..SCHOOL VOUCHERS PUTS MONEY AND POWER BACK IN THE HANDS OF THE PEOPLE...It lets you decide were its best spent

I have successfully moved ALL of my account payments to either "bill pay" from my bank or to the Merchants that offer debit payments. At least 90% of my mail now goes into my "recycle" can.

Yes, USPS funding is stupid by so is funding for libraries whose books are no longer needed.

I own a small business. Wish I could run it into the ground and still survive but my bank said no.
