ANNERA GEORGES SENTENCED TO THIRTY THREE (33) YEARS FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF A MINOR, SECOND DEGREE RAPE AND RELATED OFFENSES

PRESS RELEASE

On July 10, 2014, the Honorable Leah J. Seaton sentenced Annera Georges, age 47, of Salisbury, Wicomico County, Maryland, to seventy (70) years, suspend all but thirty-three (33) years imprisonment in the Division of Corrections. Georges was convicted, after a two day jury trial on May 7, 2014, of sexual abuse of a minor, rape in the second degree, two counts of sexual offense in the third degree and three counts of incest. Sentencing had been deferred for a mental health evaluation and presentence investigation. Upon release, Georges will be registered and supervised for the remainder of his life as a tier III sexual offender.

Wicomico County State’s Attorney Matthew A. Maciarello commended the Wicomico Child Advocacy Center and its partners (Maryland State Police, Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, Salisbury Police Department, Department of Social Services and Life Crisis Center). Mr. Maciarello also thanked Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Jamie Dykes who prosecuted this case.
