What Makes A Good Circuit Court Judge

1. Experience with jury trials.

2. Experience with all levels of criminal cases.

3. Experience with child custody cases.

4. Experience with contested divorces.

5. Experience in complex civil litigation.

6. Experience with juvenile cases.

7. Experience in appeals to all levels of the State's Courts.

8. Extensive knowledge of the Maryland Rules for Circuit Court litigation.

9. Extensive knowledge of the Maryland Criminal statutes.

10. Extensive background litigating Federal and Maryland Constitutional matters.

Why would Wicomico County settle for anything less? Why would we simply accept anything less, for the next 15 years?

I can't think of a good reason either. The choice is clear.

Joe, that's a pretty good checklist.

The County deserves the best it can get.

That's not the "new normal" -- this is:

1. Political connections

2. Big bucks from family and local lawyers.

3. Court experience -- as a defendant.

Time to say NO to out of town money.

Time to say NO to less than fully qualified political appointees.

Time to say YES to making the right decisions.

Experience DOES matter.

But J-J should know the fine points of foreclosure based on first-hand experience!

Add this to your list:

4. Being pals with Pollitt, Pagano and Pretl.

When we took a bumbling "community organizer", who had never even run a Kool-Aid stand, or ever had a job that didn't involve sucking from the public trough, and made him leader of the world's greatest military and economic machine (in the history of mankind), we set a new standard of stupidity.
Knowledge and experience don't matter any longer. Its good speeches with no results, money, and a really really REALLY stupid electorate that brings all the marbles to the game.
I hope that our Circuit Court doesn't become the laughingstock of the Maryland legal system and has most of it's rulings reversed on appeal.
Keep cheering.

Caldwell people, Caldwell. Nothing will do but Caldwell. We do not need anyone but Caldwell. Get it yet????

Bottom line is we will get what we deserve..... the only question is what do we deserve?

Who is better equipped to be a good Circuit Court Judge?

Who are we, the citizens of Wicomico County, going to hire? Wouldn't we insist on a certain level of experience for any other important position, no less one that will involve such critical issues?

Insist on the best we can have, not what is heaped upon us.

Mr./Ms. 9:52 --

Please put O'Malley on that item 4 of the "new normal" list.

Caldwell...period

naw, the criminals all want jimmy.

Ditto on Caldwell.
Litigation experience far, far beyond that of the opposition, life experience not aided by a silver spoon, years and years of local community involvement and contribution vs. none, not part of a wannabe Maryland political dynasty.

Seems like an easy choice to make.

All you people can do is mimic what you read! There is more to being a judge than your clever list. Humanity is a big part of it and Caldwell thinks he's above the common man. Also, name one person running who wouldn't take contributions from his family members, no matter where they live. I bet not even Joe can name one person, starting with himself.

This should be a no brainer. Let's see what happens. I guarantee little Jimmies kinfolk are calling in every marker they have.

So "humanity" is your litmus test? Really? That's what your hanging your hat on? More so than experience?

You must be joking. You cannot be serious.

No more SARBANES.

Anonymous said...

I went back to the middle intersection of Rt. 50 and Forest Grove Road to take pictures of those 2 Jimmy Sarbanes signs next to the stop sign and they were gone.

Not only are they placed illegally they are a distraction and dangerous to people traveling through that intersection.

Just goes to show you the Sarbanes Klan is so desperate they will put someone's life in danger just to get recognition.

I was glad to see that someone picked those signs up and I hope they were thrown away.

The United State judicial system is broken and corrupt. That would include JUDGES. They will smile and say all the politically correct things they need to say to get elected. ( they are politicians after all)

But at the end of the day, they are POLITICAINS. We don't need judges as much as we need JURIES. The people who make up juries are flawed as well, but they are the source of better judgement and JUSTICE than any one man/woman.

As long as they are honest, well informed and do not have their own little agenda, like so many judges, cops and prosecutors have.

It is much harder to buy off 12 or 6 people than it is to buy off one judge, one prosecutor or SEVERAL cops.

You want to take your country back? Do you duty. This is but one place to start. Stop relying on others to do your dirty work for you, and then whining about how you don't like the way things are.

Change them. (Yes, that means you will have to actually get up off your couches and put some effort into it.)

As terrible as that sounds to some people, the rewards and reclaiming of power are much better than continuing to lose rights and power.

Or you can continue to be sheep led to the slaughter.

Joe, your spot on.

We wouldn't hire a city administrator who had no experience. We wouldn't hire a fire chief that had never fought a fire, we wouldn't hire a police chief that had never fought crime.

Why, oh why, would we entrust someone with the responsibility to JUDGE people regarding crimes, civil wrongs, or their children, if they have never done so before?

It would be unthinkable.

Ummm!

City Administrator = Tom Stevenson = No Experience!!

Fire Chief = Rick Hoppes = No Experience!!

Police Chief = Barb Duncan = No Experience!!

Before you cite examples please know your facts before you look like an idiot. Your examples ruined your credibility.

MJ is an excellent attorney in many facets of the legal system. His extensive experience will get him to the bench. I have seen him in action and it doesn't get any better. His years of experience is what Wicomico County needs for our failing system. He is a very strong man, I've seen him go through burying both of his parents on the same day and within a short period of time bury a young man that was killed in the war . A young man that was a family member that he and his wife raised as a son. He is honest and a very hard working attorney. For those of you who think he is arrogant, this is not arrogance ,it is his self assurance that he is doing the best job that he can do for his clients. This is what makes him the best man for the job as Circuit Court Judge.
