Trained To Kill: The Policing Tactics The Public Isn’t Supposed To Know About

Despite the American public’s push for police reform, some law enforcement officers are attending classes emphasizing use of force -- even if their departments don’t Ok it.

MINNEAPOLIS –
On May 28, 126 police officers in Seattle filed a lawsuit in federal court, arguing that restrictions placed on the department by a federal court in 2012 regarding officers’ ability to use excessive force was a violation of their constitutional rights as officers.

Although the restrictions were put in place by the feds to curb the rampant unconstitutional policing the city was experiencing — especially when it came to the use of excessive and deadly force against mostly minority suspects — the officers argue that having to restrain themselves while on duty only leads to an increase in the number of citizens and officers killed.

Imclain? I'll leave this one to you, but when it becomes procedure to shoot everybody first in order to "protect" the officers' lives, well, you will be creating your own danger. We're not going to tolerate this "procedure", and we will have to be prepared for next encounter with the "law".

Bad actors are bad actors whether or not they wear a badge.
Good cops with integrity and honor don't shoot to kill people or family pets unless their life is TRULY in jeopardy. The rest, which unfortunately has become a majority of LEO's, are of poor character and status in life without integrity, decency or honesty.

Even IF they were locked up longer, or even did their full sentence, it means nothing if there is no change in their heart and mind. The justice system in our country is broken and corrupt. Several years ago the prison industry was the fastest growing industry in our country.

Prisons are a money making institution. If they offer no education, no training, no rehabilitation, the inmates will most likely return. That's why the recidivism rate is so high.

Most times the people going into the prison system is worse when they come out. They are marked for life when they become a prison alumni. Even the ones who try to go 'straight' have to deal with the stigma of being an ex jailbird.

They pay their 'debt to society' but they still do not have all their rights restored to them when their sentence is finished.

Depending on the type of crime they committed, they can not vote in an election, they cannot legally own a firearm, they are barred from having certain jobs, if they are lucky enough to find a good job, they are often denied because of time served.

You see, there are a lot of factors involved once someone gets snared in our justice system. No one can point to any one factor and say this is the problem, or that is the cause of failure.

And as long as there is a profit motive involved, there will never be any significant change for the better.

"Protect and serve" has now become intimidate and harass.

10:12 you are full of dung. 99% of the police officers do a great job. Do you have any idea how many police are in the U.S. doing a great job daily. Let us not forget many officers are actual combat veterans now. They are quicker to pull the trigger and rightfully so. Thank you officers who go out and do it daily. Thining of the Thug herd is not a bad thing

I would love to see the cops go on strike for about a month lol. U turd bags would not be able to leave the house. You would be paying tolls to drive down the street.

Man, oh man! The police, having never actually READ the Constitution, think it has a clause that specifically covers the use of excessive force?? And that they should be allowed to use it without repercussions? FOR OUR OWN GOOD!? WTF! The instructor seems to be just one "seig heil!!" away from being a full-blown Nazi.
Tell the father of the college girl who was in a headlock by a thug and was shot in the head by a cop trying to be Dirty Harry that the cop was "just thinning out the herd". Tell the mother of the kid who was shot by cops because they though his air gun was a rifle (really!?) that he or she are "turd bags".
Or tell the women who were handcuffed and cordoned off and then pepper-sprayed by a police CAPTAIN (while OTHER cops laughed at what would be a criminal assault charge for someone NOT wearing a badge) that THEY were "turd bags". Hint-- the "turd bags" were the ones wearing a badge.
Tell it to the parents of the UNARMED drunk kid who SAID something smart to those 4 cops, who then beat him and allowed an attack dog to bite him on the head and neck --- gave him 200 (!) stitches and said they HAD to, because they were afraid. Afraid. That's what THEY said.
"They are quick to pull the trigger and rightly so." I'll bet those 6 Cleveland cops who fired what, 137 rounds? into 2 unarmed people --- one cop stood on the hood of the car and fired into the car (didn't sound like HE was too afraid, merely dumber than a rock) --- are now thinking that maybe they went overboard and overreacted (RECOMMENDED in this so-called instructional class).
The American public is NOT the Taliban. Combat veterans who still think that military tactics and use of force procedures are VALID in our republic should be treated like they treat "we, the people".
As the enemy. No mercy. No quarter. Shoot first and quickly. Tell the judge you were 'afraid'.
Does the "99% of the police officers" doing a "good job" include the ones who stand around while OTHER cops beat, rape, rob, and kill mostly unarmed and non threatening civilians?
There is a legal term called "accomplice". The cops use it all the time. And, for the record, DO it all the time.
"Accomplice" should also apply to every punk-ass State's Attorney and judge who allows a cop to claim he was "afraid" as a reason for murder.
If you are THAT afraid of every damn thing you encounter, you have the wrong job.
Thinning the herd IS something that needs to be done (and it will), but it ain't the "herd" you refer, too, I'm sure. But, 10:29 & 10:32, thanks for the inside look at how cops actually view their masters.
Sign your name, you cowards.

if the kops decide every citizen they encounter is a threat to them then every citizen will need to protect themselves accordingly!

2:55 NAILED IT!!

2:55 has a loved one in jail or has been there himself. I can not speak to the violence these rogue police officers are inflicting on innocent citizens. I will say I know many officers that do a great job. You are absolutely right any officer that stands and watches the violation of human rights, screw the constitution for just a minute. Those officers are criminals and should pay. Any officer who violates the law should face a more severe punishment then the average person. With that said I do not know the total number of police in this country. I am sure it is over 200k. I think part of the issue is they are hiring people that should have never been hired to begin with. The fact still remains what you are doing in lumping a class of person into one basket. That is like say all white or all blacks are the same. It is pure prejudice. People the majority of Police do the right thing. We don't hear about that day to day. Another reason for the anger is we are all including the police sick of "Big Govt". The police are viewed as an arm of the govt. I don't agree with officer who does not follow the "protect&serve" creed. I also do not agree with anyone who thinks going to war with the local police is the right answer. Take the time to get to know the real cops out there. I think you would be shocked to learn they are sick of bad cops as well. They are also sick of extremist who rant about violence against the police. In the police world force will be met with equal or greater force it is a no brainer. Break the law of the land you will be arrested. Put a cop in danger you will suffer the consequences. As for any cop violating civil or human rights they are criminals behind a badge that should be fired or in jail. trust me cops in jail do not fair well at all. There have been rogue cops since laws started being enforced. The trick is to preserve the good ones. As for the criminal element hell I do not care what happens to them. As in anything in life there are three versions of the truth. The fact is there is the truth and the perceived truth that is wherein the trouble lies. Good Americans do not do bad things not matter what profession they hold.

8:04....good speech. Flawed in logic, reasoning, and reality, but pretty good speech.
Let me --- again -- say this....I have NO criminal record. NO civil record. No points on my license and NO "loved ones" in jail. DOZENS of cops have combed through every source possible to find SOMETHING they can wave around to discredit me, embarrass me, or prove I have some kind of a grudge. Guess what. ALL have failed.
Having said that I will address your other statements and assumptions. The police are not "viewed" as an arm of the government --- they ARE an arm of the government. The ARMED enforcers of the government. And even though you SAY all these rogue cops who beat, rape, assault, rob, and murder civilians SHOULD be fired or go to jail, that (quite factually) RARELY happens. The "trick", as you call it, is NOT to preserve the 'good ones" -- it should be to prosecute and punish the bad ones and therein lies the problem. The public (MILLIONS of them) see police openly flaunt the law, use their power to harass and kill, and State's Attorneys and judges routinely allow them to go unpunished.
If your kid, wife, son, or friend is shot, raped or beaten unjustly by the police and you complain to the State's Attorney that it is IMPOSSIBLE for FOUR cops and a trained attack dog to be afraid of an unarmed kid who merely SAID something they didn't like, and he says they were 'justified' in giving him 200 (!!) stitches, who do you complaint to after that?
Your statement "there are three versions of the truth" was also something I couldn't let go. There is only one "version" (terrible choice of words to describe it) of the truth. Its the truth. There aren't any "versions".
The police have brought their vicious, overreacting, over-the-top, militaristic, and violent reputation upon themselves. Its not from anything I've said. Its the things THEY have done.
Now, they have only begun to reap what they have sown. But you think its because I have been arrested or have been harmed?
Sorry. Its because I've been paying attention.
