Fatal Accident On Route 50 

Maryland State Police are reporting a fatal accident claimed the life of a 22-year-old Prince George's County man this morning. 
The press release read the, "single vehicle motor vehicle collision that was reported to have occurred on US Route 50 west of Riddle Lane in Worcester County. When troopers arrived it was determined the vehicle had been occupied by the driver only who was ejected during the collision event. The driver was identified as Ryan Young Hatton aged 22 yrs of Glenn Dale, Prince George’s County, Maryland. Hatton was taken by ambulance to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, where he succumbed to his injuries. 

Through the investigation it was determined Hatton was traveling westbound on US Route 50 west of Riddle Lane when he lost control of the 2000 Toyota he was driving. The vehicle traveled through the median, across the eastbound lanes of US Route 50 and struck a traffic signal support pole at the intersection for one of the entrances into Walmart/Home Depot. The vehicle overturned during the collision event subsequently ejecting Hatton.

Eastbound US Route 50 was shutdown for several hours during the investigation and debris cleanup. Assisting at the scene was Worcester County Sheriff’s Deputies, Berlin Fire Department, and SHA."
