Their latest excuse is that a fire truck must accompany each ambulance run because:
a) the ambulance attendant might slip and
b) the patient might fall off the stretcher and
c) then the patient would sue the
City and
d) the City has no liability insurance to cover lawsuits.

I can't wait for the next fairy tale.

I thought it was that the EMT's were on the fire truck. I guess when the ambulance gets to my accident site, they can't do anything for me until the fire truck arrives.

Pretty dumb practice, I say. Maybe they should consider teaching EMT's how to drive ambulances.

WOW look at all them fires! NOT!

Why is it that it is still called the Salisbury Fire Department when clearly it is and should be Salisbury EMS.

How many EMS Officers does the Salisbury Fire Department have?

ALL the officers are EMS officers, either basic life support or paramedic

people, people, people, don't buy into false information and anti-fd hype. all members are crosstrained as ems persons. basic life support people and paramedics are on each ambulance. why would you think the ambulance can do nothing for you until the firetruck arrives? the firetruck is there for traffic control/scene blocking, extra help for patient care, and roadway clean-up. stop by a station and ask questions. you are always welcome. best to get info from the source and not uninformed, agenda-pushing, blog-posters

955, they could do all that with a pickup truck.

They could do it better with a traffic control truck.

There is NO need for a fire truck to be going to these calls, period.

A traffic control truck is used as just so, traffic control. It does not have the rescue tool nor the clean up supplies that a fire engine/truck/rescue has. Every department in the county or country for that matter gets dispatched for a fire apparatus with rescue tools on every MVC.
