Comments I Feel Worthy Of A Post

D Shift started shoveling early and A Shift finished with some assistance from Public Works. Since you aren't even able to spell Taj Mahal, perhaps you could quit trying to be so devisive and offer to assist shoveling an entire block the next time it snows.

Despite the rantings of a few uninformed individuals on here, the career component of the Salisbury Fire Department is comprised of "dedicated" men and women who come to work at their job just as anyone else does. They're certainly not getting rich and work in a pretty stressful environment where they obviously get Monday Morning Quarterbacked to death by a group of individuals who either can't take the pay cut or can't pass the minimum testing and credentialing requirements in the first place to even attempt to do the job and actually see what it's all about.

Get over yourself and either become a career firefighter and actually do the job, or quit whining about them when you've not been one and earned the right to whine. Become a volunteer and help make a difference at least.

Ask the man who broke his leg last night at a fire about his dedication. And where were all the dedicated volunteers the city supposedly has to offer when their assistance was requested and help had to be obtained from Fruitland and Delmar? The few dedicated volunteers were there working along side the career men trying to make the best of a bad situation. Maybe 15 or 16. There are 130 or so listed on the roster. Where were all the rest of the "dedicated" ones?

Use facts to support your argument. Not hate or ignorance.

I was asked to pop on here and take a look at these comments. Allow me to share the OTHER side to 4:24's comment.

You can sit there and point fingers at VOLUNTEERS but let me just say this. YOU are the kind of blind eyed person that makes it an almost impossible work environment possible for Volunteers at Station 16.

Oh, it's EASY to sit on this Blog through comments and make it LOOK like you encourage Volunteers but IF that place was anywhere near what it was DESIGNED to be and had the proper LEADERSHIP and MANAGEMENT you'd have Volunteers lining up like it was DESIGNED to be in the first place.

Let me say this as well. WTF are YOU doing with 130 ALLEGED Volunteers on your roster IF they aren't SERVING to the level and commitment YOU require.

Stop the BS and start acting like real men and clean up house.

Yes, my name ins on my comment because guess what, I'm a real man, NOT an alleged hero. You guys watch too may Batman and Superman movies over there.

Why do they continue to think they are more important than anyone else? The arrogance these firemen have is disgusting. You get respect by showing respect and from what I have seen on this blog and your actions in public you don't deserve respect.
You are paid to do a job, do it and stop whining about it. If you don't think you make enough find another job.

A Monday Morning Quarterback here.

I have been critical of the SBY paid fire dept. on this blog and will continue to do so. There is no need for a paid fire department in Salisbury. It is a waste of money. There are not enough fire events to warrant maintaining such a large force of paid firefighters. I have provided information and links to areas that are as large or larger than Salisbury and have more significant infrastructure that are protected by volunteer fireman. As for not being able to pass the minimum testing and credentialing, please take note that I have over 15 years of volunteer service both in Wicomico county and Pennsylvania, MFRI certs., PA certs in structural fire fighting, arson investigation, EVOC, ladder truck operation and a MS degree in Public Safety. The volunteer companies I have been a member of in PA can run circles around the paid firemen in Salisbury and do it for free. Small town mentality and self preservation seems to be the driving force behind the post emanating from the paid fireman that post responses on this blog. BTW, we never utilize our emergency vehicles for personal runs such as lunch, dinner or going to a grocery store.

8:17 AMEN! Maybe they would have more money in their pockets if they were not going out to eat like they do! I am not trying to say not eat, but they have a multimillion dollar fire house and kitchen use it!

anonymous 8:17, right on. I'm NOT trying to rid of the paid staff with my remarks. I have always tried to wake them up to show more respect towards Volunteers.
However, I do understand how they are afraid of their own shadows as they could easily lose some of the highest paying jobs in the City IF a good Mayor actually opened their eyes and stopped falling for the accreditation BS and mandatory regulations set up by a national BS organization.

Those very same PAID people shoved millions of additional dollars worth of expenses to attempt to make it look as if they were Volunteer friendly and that too was a bunch of crap.

Look, when I talk one on one with the paid Firefighters and we discuss these matters, including taking million dollar equipment to get lunch and dinner, they agree. So why can't they get their at together. Because the upper management does NOT want Volunteers, period.

Google Lower Merion Fire Department if you want to see what a volunteer fire deptartment is.

at 8:23 PM

Because Jim Liarton rushed the wrong person in the position of fire chief. And we are not talking about Jeff Simpson.

Wah, Wah, Wah!

Take a pay cut? The paid firemen are some of the highest paid employees of the city of Salisbury. Quit whining and trying to make you guys sound like a hero. So what someone broke their leg. That doesn't make them a hero. People break their legs every day and they are not heroes. Many times they are doing something they weren't supposed to be doing. Just because you have 1 or 2 fires doesn't justify your existence as a paid fireman to sit around the majority of time you are on the job. You are an uneducated fool bragging about nothing.

"the minimum testing and credentialing requirements"

These are all self imposed by the fearless leaders of the Salisbury Fire Department. The main one is question is so fat he can't take 20 minutes on the tread mill. He is so fat and lazy he never leaves his office to visit the other stations. He is the main one that allows the discrimination of volunteers in the Salisbury Fire Department. His main goal is to run out all volunteers and make it a 100% paid fire department. Paid firemen are easier to control than the volunteers are.

Jim Ireton you are a piece of crap for appointing this other piece of crap as your department head. I guess you forgot about him being an integral part of the witch hunt to bring to light your homosexuality and brush with the law on that Delaware beach.

I bet that none of you nerds are man enough to sign up to be firefighters, either volunteer or career.

Sit back in your easy chair, hide behind your computer & talk big talk, but no action!
