2 Hour School Delay In Delmar, Wicomico & Worcester County

With a half day, I'm not even sending my little guy in to school today.

This is ridiculous. How did we all make it through school when we were in school. There was no such thing as a fog delay. What about the parents that have to go to work anyway? What do they do with their kids? What about the parents that have to miss work and not get paid for time missed. What about the police officers that still have to report to work and the 911 dispatchers. Do you think they get a 2 hour delay? NO!! What about the school employees who are not teachers? They still have to be to work on time. Teachers have it made don't they.

I don't know John Fredrickson personally, but I tell you..I would NOT want his job to save my life.
He is damned no matter what he does.

Well then , he should and will get an un-excused absence, as he should. Mess with the bull, you get the horns, as you should. Delmar WILL NOT back down from you Albero.

How soon we forget. Don't any of you complaining parents remember the fatal school bus accident in the fog a few years ago. It was in Easton, Dutchmans Lane and Rt. 50 I believe. I remember hearing for months, the complaining parents saying the Talbot Co. BOE should have delayed school. Truly damned if you do and damned if you don't. I can tell you one thing, it was much to foggy this morning, for the buses to run on time. Especially since a lot of the idiots out there don't even use their headlights!

6:51 AM SAYS " Teachers have it made don't they."

IMO the answer is NO. Teachers that are parents too face the same problems as you. The difference is they don't get on here and blame others for being "put out".

A parent has a responsibility to their children. If you believe the school is YOUR baby-sitting service then be childless and you will not have to deal with these little bumps in life's road.

I also think there are major differences between an adult 911 worker or policemen than a bus load of children that a bus driver is responsible for.

Look at the delayed school listing and you will see all counties possibly made a wrong call this morning but at 5 AM it was a correct decision.

It is a difficult decision for BOE's to make.

anonymous 8:31, You are 100% correct.

My thoughts are, however, I am NOT putting our child on a bus for one hour of school today.

It's too much of a risk since Delmar has a half day, (if you want to call it that). Many will walk in to school and be served lunch immediately.

Fortunately I'm in the position to stay home but I feel for those who cannot.

It was extremely foggy in Worcester County so I was in favor of the 2-hour delay for the sake of our children’s safety.

8:19 –that was a ridiculous and childish comment & threat. Read it again and reflect further upon it and you will hopefully agree.

How are are you? I've lived here for 43 years and we had delays while I was in school for inclement weather like this morning. The fog in my area of Wicomico was so thick this morning, I could barely see my car in my own driveway.
