A Comment Worthy Of A Post 9-15-13

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "SFD Calls For Service 9-14-13":

Well word on the street is that The city of Salisbury has currently started site work on the north end of Salisbury behind the Target building for a new "Emergency Services Building" which is going to house the Salisbury city police as well as a 24 hour paid paramedic crew and a paid 24 hour engine crew. Of course that all may be false unless the details come to the surface, but I don't think that another fire company is needed in the city of Salisbury as Delmar can handle anything on that side of town if needed. Like I said this was told to me by a few people so it could be a rumor but was also told that this information as been a well kept secret between the higher ups in the Salisbury fire dept. Maybe someone will investigate this.

Up by the big box stores, gonna need another $350,000 tower truck to keep up there!

I was wondering what was going on there. I see the site work when I go to Home Depot for building supplies. As a licensed contractor, and bid board subscriber, I never did see anything on the bid boards about this. Do you suppose the "Good Ole' Boy" network just hired a contractor without putting the project out for bids? What's the price tag, and who's the lucky kickback payer?

Doesn't make sense with such a bottle neck getting to Rt 13, if North Pointe Dr is exit. But than again when dealing with government thinking thats exactly what they'd do.

I wonder if this was an election promise that is being filled? Does Palmer/Ireton/Day finances have a hand in this? Let's add some low income housing there too.

300 unit apartment complex actually

This construction should be very easy to verify with a few calls. I for one would like to know the answer.

No wasn't bid just assigned. Ask the folks there. And a tower truck is well higher than $350,000 with all of the pretty extra packages some FD expect.

They are building apartments in the field between Target & Tractor Supply, a road will be ran from behind Golden Corral to meet with the dead end behind Tractor Supply for easy access. I believe there are 300+ apartments going up in there. I heard it's going to be another complex just like Marley, like its' sister complex.

Um, let's get one thing straight. That tower truck cost over $1 Million and the fire trucks cost over $500 thousand.
