What? No fires?

Again no real fire calls. So we had about 25 fireman(not EMS) sitting around looking busy most of the day! What a terrible waste of good tax dollars.

These are Obama's shovel ready jobs.

National Night Out Prayer Service

Posted on August 6, 2013 by jimiretonformayor

Last night clergy, from various houses of religion in Salisbury, joined Mayor Ireton at Parkway Church of God to join in song and prayer for our City and our emergency responders. This service is held the night before National Night Out which is a night to bring together citizens of the community and members of the Police and Fire Departments for an evening of fun and safety.

Ha Ha Ha! LMAO I just looked at the pictures and there weren't any firemen or police officers there for Jim Beau's celebration. It looked like just a few congregation members. Jim is so in love with himself posting press releases and photo ops!

This all seems so twisted. Folks are delighted daily that there are no fires reported. Not because they are happy about another day without loss of property, life or injury but because they want to complain about firemen having nothing to do. I suppose everyone would be happier if fires were burning non-stop all over Salisbury? Would that justify having a paid fire department? I for one am happy that there are firemen at the ready in the hopefully unlikely event of a fire. If my house were on fire, I'd rather the firemen be at the firehouse, ready to jump in the fire truck and get to my house than have the additional wait for the volunteers to actually get to the firehouse and then respond.

Looks like we need less expensive engines and no fireboat, ambulances instead.

So tell us which paid fireman are you? The issue isn't about being no fires, the issue is about paying firemen to sit around the firehouses all day waiting for that fire call that isn't going to happen when we could have volunteers doing the same thing. By the way they do their shopping while they are on duty.

Another thing, if you were a sincere tax paying resident you would have signed your name and address.

Go crawl back under that rock you slug.

Average volunteer response is four minutes. Average career response is under a minute. When life is on the line which would you want ?
