In an attempt to better educate the local community about the law, the Wicomico County Bar Association will be holding its first “Law School for the Public” program on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the Wor-Wic Community College between 8am and noon. The free program will be located in the Workforce Development Center on the Wor-Wic Campus off of Walston Switch Road in Salisbury. Any interested community members are invited to attend.
Volunteer “faculty” will be presenting introductory presentations on a number of legal topics. “Our hope is that community members will bring a strong desire to learn more about the law to this event,” said Mark Tyler, Vice President of the Wicomico County Bar Association and the event organizer. “We see it as a valuable community service for lawyers who practice in these different areas of the law to give free answers to questions about the law that members of our community may have,” Tyler said.
Course topics and presenters will include: Asset Protection and Debt Relief (Ann Shaw, Esq.); Immigration Relief (Eduardo Gonzalez, Esq.); Estate Planning (Mike Mathers, Esq.); Family Law (Barbara Trader, Esq.); Criminal Prosecution (Matthew Maciarello, Esq.); Criminal Defense (Kelly McFadden, Esq.); Personal Injury Law (James Otway, Esq. and Luke Rommel, Esq.). Attendees will have the chance to rotate through a couple of different topic sessions before the event concludes at noon. The volunteer presenters will not be actively soliciting for new clients.
