The first step in starting a business is to just do it and plan on working hard at it. By hard I mean the owner must be there constantly never leaving while business is open. Forget all this "business plan" crap. Your life becomes the business if and until you can afford to pay someone well enough that they won't steal from you and it's in their best interest to keep the business running as if it were their own.
Pay all your bills on time and plan on living on a shoestring budget yourself for many years, because any profits should be put back into the business.
