EVA LONGORIA'S 'DEVIOUS MAIDS' SLAMMED AS 'DEGRADING,' 'STEREOTYPICAL' TO HISPANICS

Devious Maids, the new TV series produced by and starring actress Eva Longoria, is being criticized as demeaning to Hispanics and for stereotyping Latino women as domestic help.

When commercials started playing advertising the new Lifetime Network drama/comedy about five Latina maids, many potential viewers complained that the heroines of the show were but lowly Latina house maids. It was demeaning, stereotypical, and even racist they said.

Damarys Ocana, executive editor of Latina Magazine, was one that immediately criticized the new series. "There probably wasn't a Latina in the country who didn't initially roll her eyes of 'oh great, here we go again. Another Latina character that's a maid,'" she told ABC News.

Isn't that what they are? However I do agree with the Latina maids that this photo is off base. In the real world Latina women, one the average are about 5 feet tall and weigh about 150 lbs.

I agree with 3:35pm but will put it more bluntly. They are fat. Not sexy mamas like these. LOL

Maybe the show should be about a latino woman who becomes president of the U.S. It is supposed to be Fantasy mixed with reality to become entertainment, isn't it?..

9:46 PM you might be joking, but this Amnesty bill will make a Mexican president in the very near future. Look what is happening in California and all the bordering states. Look what is happening in Florida since the boat people Cubans took over. Keep cracking your stupid jokes instead of really doing something about the problem.

But seriously, isn't that what they are is domestic help.

If you remember correctly this is the same arguments that blacks have been making for years. Look at Paula Dean's situation about the wedding.

Now you can't even watch a movie without a black person in a staring role along with a white person. When was the last time you saw an entire movie with whites only staring in it? I bet it's been over 20 years now. There are now hundreds of all black movies as stars and now whites unless they are playing the demeaning roles.
