GUN-RIGHTS RALLYGOERS DEFY LOCAL LAW, CONFRONT ‘POLICE STATE’ ACTIONS

Protesters showed up to a gun-rights rally in Erie, Pa., with their firearms out in the open—purposely defying a local ordinance that prohibits guns at city parks.

“We are American patriots, and we are a force to be reckoned with!” yelled Pastor George Cook of North Bangor, Pa. (350 miles away) at the Perry Square park gazebo Saturday, WSEE-TV reports.

“First, our constitution…says that the right of people to bear arms in defense of themselves and the state shall not be questioned,” said Cook. ”The preemption clause in our state law…says that local towns like Erie can’t make other laws concerning firearms.”

Arrest the law violators! PA. is a Yankee state and should do as the illegal president says.

Rock on PA.

I'm a patriot but I don't blatantly break laws to make a point. Good intentions, horrible execution. Just ask the Occupy people how that worked out.

The law is unconstitutional in PA. The PA constitution prohibits local municipalities from enacting their own gun laws.

Jefferson was a patriot, too. Only not just in words. He decided (thank God) that SOME laws MUST be broken. Or just continue to vote. Or write mean letters. petitions. Thank Christ he realized that, sometimes, people in power (wearing suits or badges, no matter) just need to be shot. That's something that all tyrants can understand. Petitions and protests? They can be ignored. Metal at 2800 feet per second? Better pay close attention to THAT.

You CANNOT be a patriot and NOT break some law(s).

That just does not compute.

Government's only jobs were to regulate commerce, raise armies to defend the country in times of need, and other non-invasive duties that managed and protected the COUNTRY, not the individual.

Local government is of course, more localized. They are to deal with the local populace, send representatives to D.C. to tell them what we want etc., and protect their citizens.

There needs to be a big scalpel taken and cut out the excess fat from the federal levels of government, severe some of the ties to the federal government, and let the people once again take care of themselves.

Our government cannot even take care of its' own, how in the hell can it take care of another countries peoples?

Help people, sure. But draw a line, show them where that line is and stick to it.
