John Adams – 1818
By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world.
The foe long since in silence slept;
Alike the conqueror silent sleeps;
And Time the ruined bridge has swept
Down the dark stream which seaward creeps.
On this green bank, by this soft stream,
We set to-day a votive stone;
That memory may their deed redeem,
When, like our sires, our sons are gone.
Spirit, that made those heroes dare
To die, and leave their children free,
Bid Time and Nature gently spare
The shaft we raise to them and thee.
Ralph Waldo Emerson – Concord Hymn

A poem like this may have been applicable back when human beings were moral and accountable to others, that coupled with honesty was the order of the day, but those days are long gone and will never return. The world today is filled with immoral beings and over filled with the vulgarity of every day accepted life, all the while the sin filled wallow daily in their man made pleasures. The morality of this world spirals downward with every passing day and not only will it continue, but it will escalate, because the older and more moral human beings, presently on this earth, will soon disappear and the world will be left with more of what we are forced to accept and take for granted each day in our sin filled society every day. Not to worry though, when God has reached his fill of wicked non believers, it will happen, and the will of no man shall stand against wrath and will of God in his cleansing. It's a great day coming in my opinion. Amen
Agree except the part about being responsible to others.
People are responsible to God and themselves.
If they were responsible to God, as intended, the things you speak of would be automatic.
However, as you have pointed out, that has and is becoming more rare each passing day.
And I don't see it stopping until His return.
I totally agree with both 1:37 & 7:00.
"In GOD We Trust" is a motto that is now an obsolete phrase in our country. Fewer God-fearing men now exist in our country compared to 50 years ago.
It is still the duty of the few who still do possess morals & character to do our best to try make this a better world to live in each & every day.
