A group of postal workers striking against proposed cuts to the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) declared a "people's victory" late Saturday after holding a fast for six days.
The small group of retired and active letter carriers, calling themselves the Communities and Postal Workers United (CPWU), had staged protests on the National Mall and Capitol Hill this week to raise awareness about proposed legislation that would reduce the USPS delivery week to five days.
Cutting mail delivery to five days will eliminate 80,000 postal jobs, according to postal unions.

Last September a friend of my called to say they had spent the last day laughing with their neighbors and she called to say thank you to me for that
To day I got an email from a friend who told me they were going to buy me a cup of coffee and give me a hug for the smile I gave her yesterday.
These people received a very quickly written note from me and I think a comic I drew. I love getting unexpected surprise mail and so do numerous other people so I say thank you to the post office and Long may you live
Bet they'll enjoy their "victory" when they join the folks from Hostess and other companies where the unions have had great "Victories".
I don't beleave them. I think they cheated. They should be locked in a room with cameras filming it. I think 2 weeks would be a good target.
I know several postal workers! There's no way they would miss a meal let alone "six". Is it April ! already?
There is no mail to deliver on Saturday except junk mail. I can wait until Monday for that... Actually, there is no mail on Wednesday either, so......
Pay day is one day a week...so...
Mail only needs to be delivered one day a week.
Odd that the number of hunger strikers is nowhere to be found. I'm guessin' that means very, very few, but the MSM had to get the heart wrenching tale out.
Ditto, 555! I don't see those at the Rt 50 Post Office hunger striking! If they are, it's a Top Secret Operation and nobody is putting it out front! Must all be in the back opening secret packages of Harry & David!
