OCEAN CITY – The extreme rumble associated with recent vehicular-centered events in Ocean City continue to raise concerns from private citizens and public officials.
At last week’s Mayor and Council meeting, Ocean City resident Elle Diegelmann made suggestions in controlling the noise in residential neighborhoods caused by the visiting vehicles in town for Cruisin, Bike Week, Corvette weekend and the Volkswagon (VW) events.
“For whatever its worth, I just want to go on record with my concerns on the noise issues,” she said. “Since I was last up here about the Bike Week noise issues we have also had the VW show, the Cruisers, and the Corvettes. Of course, all of them have problem people that are going to create problems but my big concern is in the residential neighborhoods. They have just never been made to know what was the expected behavior, and I really think what can be made possible with all of these conventions is just be very clear and specific in letting them know residential areas are not acceptable in making noise,” she said.

well lets start with the basics here...Ocean City is a resort town and thats means the people who come here for these events are the ones who pay for the overall operation of the town. It is proven the motor vehicle weekend bring in the most money period. If you wanted a quiet place to live why in the world would you ever consider ocean city? The town isnt going to change for a few older people who think they can run things...not gonna happen. if you dont like noise dont move there and expect people to think like you.
It's a resort town. What do they expect? They brought in these events for $$$. Quit crying about the reality of those decisions.
Sounds to me like this is a classic example of some one from a city or large suburban area that moved here to escape high taxes and now wants to change our way of life I have a suggestion for her and people like the Schmid woman from Ocean Pines If you don't like our way of life here, then get the hell back to where you came from.
It is pretty dumb to think that a town that at times has in excess of 200,000 people in it is going to be peaceful and bucolic 100% of the time. It really doesn't make any sense that someone would move to OC then complain about noise and all the other trappings of a tourist destination. I can't believe these people who are complaining would even do it. I'd be too embarrassed. It's like the old buying a home near an airport then complaining about low flying planes.
You can always put barriers up to keep them out of the "residential neighborhoods." Or just cancel all those money-making events....

Moved to OC to escape higher taxes? Are you kidding?
