County, Seacrets Working On Sheriff’s Deputy Patrol Accord

SNOW HILL -- An attempt by the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office to establish a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Seacrets, an entertainment and restaurant complex in Ocean City, for police security in the form of extra patrols met resistance from several County Commissioners.

A vote on the issue was delayed until absent Commissioner Louise Gulyas, who represents Ocean City, could be given a chance to review the situation and cast a vote.

“Anyway you look at it, you’re getting into the security business,” said Commissioner Madison Bunting.

Bunting admitted to being uncomfortable with the MoU for a number of reasons, chiefly that he didn’t see any reason why every bar or restaurant in Ocean City couldn’t ask for the same extra protection.

Oh my! Ocean CIty and the County fighting over revenue. I though it was just a year ago or so that OC banner their officers from moonlighting directly with merchants and ruled that any officer hired part time must be done so through the town so that they got a cut of what the individual earned. Sounds like Seacrets got a better price using County officers instead of those from OC.

they have been doing this for years just know the agreement.
here is the question to ask....how much of this work is being done on county time? just listen to your scanner---i asked one of the deputies after hearing some talk of picking up a package at 49th street---it means one of your taxpayer paid deputies was using our time and gas to pick up their seacret paychecks....ask how many hours Smack spends at work doing the schedule and how many trips he makes back and forth there
these are the questions to ask
