What Is "Pink Slime" And Why Is It In 70% Of Supermarket Ground Beef?

Earlier this year, McDonald's made headlines when it said it would stop using ammonia-treated beef trimmings lovingly known as "pink slime" in its burgers. Now the former USDA scientist who coined the phrase is speaking out against the widespread use of the stuff — not because it's unsafe, but because he feels like consumers are being deceived into paying for cheap filler.

Don't eat supermarkets esp Walmart and Sam's Club meats! I've said it before and I'm saying it again-it is putrid and not fit for dogs! Everyone rags on McDonalds and I've said it before and I'll say it again, McDonald's meats (and eggs) are better quality than your average supermarket junk.
Everyone rags on smokers and no one wants people smoking around kids and blah blah blah then these same people will feed their kids this stuff we are allowed to call food in this country because big agri business is running the show at the USDA and on capital hill.

It's the sweepings off the slaughter house floor. It was used as pet food until big Ag and the government decided to wash it and feed it to people. It used to be considered ineible and has no nutritional value. It is mostly connective tissue. One scientist has called it soylent pink in reference to the movie soylent green which could just as easily happen. The powers that be don't care what we are fed antibiotics growth hormones feces and pink slime. Everyone needs to take a long hard look at where their food comes from. Look hard at factory farming from egg factories to slaughter houses. Gone are the days of animals grazing in a field. Now they all are raised in overcrowded buildings where without antibiotics they would die from disease because of the way they are kept. They are finding MRSA in most of the pork from these type farms. If nothing is done to stop this there is going to be an antibiotic resistant pandemic which will kill many. Be aware folks take a good hard look at what big Ag and our wonderful government (which of course has it's hand in the pocket of big Ag )will allow your families to eat. .

Even with the antibiotics factory farmed animals are still dying. Ones that are sick but not down yet are still slaughtered for human consumption. The USDA even allows animals with pus filled wounds and cancer lesions to be slaughtered for human consumption.
It's a crime what's happened to our food supply.

Anyone who eats scrapple shouldn't talk

The thing is 8:43 just about everyone is aware of what they are getting with scrapple.
Food labeling inadequacies prevents most people from knowing what they are eating in other cuts and types of meats.
I am usually against goverment regs in most cases but not more stricter food labeling legislation.
The problem lies with the large food processors and manufactures lobbying against such labeling.

On the other side they will lobby for more stricter legislation which has the potential to ultimately will run out the "little guy."
If anyone caught John Stossel's special on Fox last night he touched on this. DC taxi cabs aren't regulated and no costly medallions are required. A large taxi company has hired a lobbyist to write legislation to be presented to the DC city council to now reg taxi cabs all with the goal in mind to run the little guys out. It's a way these big companies/corp get around the anti trust laws.
