Bear Man Arrested After Strong Arm Robbery


Location: Parking lot of Stanton Pharmacy, 2012 W. Newport Pike, Stanton, DE

48 year old Hartly, DE man

William H. Hinckle, 28, Bear, DE
Robbery 1st Degree

Stanton, DE- Delaware State Police detectives have arrested a Bear, DE man following a strong arm robbery that occurred in the parking lot of an area pharmacy this morning.

The incident happened at approximately 10:28 a.m. this morning after a 48 year old Hartly, DE man had just exited the Stanton Pharmacy located in the 2000 block of W. Newport Pike, Stanton after having a prescription for medication filled. The victim was then approached by a male suspect, later identified as William H. Hinckle, who attempted to take the victim’s medication. The victim, however, refused to let go, and began struggling with Hinckle. Both Hinckle and the victim fell to the ground at which point, Hinckle was able to wrestle the medication from the victim and attempt to flee through the parking lot. He was then chased by three witnesses who tackled him to the ground and held him until the arrival of an officer from the Newport Police Department who then took him into custody. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by responding EMS personnel.

William H. Hinckle was arrested and charged with one count of Robbery 1st Degree. His arraignment information is not available at this time.
