John Hall Sworn In, Joe Holloway President, Matt Holloway Vice President

In a very enjoyable County Council Meeting, John Hall was sworn in to fill the seat of the late Bob Caldwell.

Joe Holloway was nominated to become the new Council President and Matt Holloway was nominated to become Vice President. Both were unanimously elected.

As the meeting went on and as many are seeing RIGHT NOW on PAC 14, Rick Pollitt has sent in his supporters on the Bennett Middle School construction or the hope thereof.

What ALL of you do NOT know is that County Executive Rick Pollitt has gone to the County Council and asked that Bennett Middle School construction project be brought back up on the agenda.

Now, he has also stated that IF they do NOT place it on the agenda, he will go to the State and attempt to bypass the County Council. THIS is why you're seeing people come out of nowhere to try and shame the Council into bringing it up again, knowing the County cannot afford it in any way, shape or form.

Congratulations Mr. Hall. There was an incredible field of qualified citizens being considered for this seat and I, for one, believe the Council made the right choice.

I am so proud of Mr. Joe Holloway.

I think our council has more brains not to even think about a new school. We are broke. The school we have will due. Just due some maintenance.

I thank Mr. John Hall for stepping up to be a councilman.

I dont think Matt and Joe are related. Are they?

Holloway is like smith and jones. Many different families with the same name. No they are not related or at least closely. I checked it out during the campaign.

I listened on TV -- why didn't those persons complaining about the school budget ask Rick Pollitt for that money he want's to use for a special Xmas bonus for Wicomico County employees?

Well, how the heck does Hughes expect her colleagues to respect her after her comments tonight. Oh, that's right, she works at Shore up with Rudy and she isn't worried about being respected. She just needs to go home! Sad that we have one of her kind from her community serving on the council. There are so many really good people who should represent District 1.

Did you hear Sample-Hughes blast Joe Holloway at the end of the meeting, when she said that she wanted everyone to know that she refused to support him as the Council predsident. She should be recalled ASAP.

Build a new school???? We are broke, remember! Don't come on here and tell everybody else that money would come from somewhere else...I say BS! If they can find money from somewhere else or its coming from the feds or some other fund, they can make that money useful for the budget they have now and quit crying the blues because the budget is in the red. They (state & fed) rob funds all day long to satisfy the GF or whatever need the money goes for.

Go John! The council needs someone like you.....All the best!
On the other hand, Sharee Sample Hughes sounds like a Louise Smith duplicate.

As a retired teacher, I sympathize with those who want a new Bennett Middle. The school is in deplorable shape, and a little maintenance will not solve the problem. It needs a major overhaul or replacement; both options probably would cost about the same. In the meantime, Bennett Middle kids and teachers are making do with what cannot be pleasant conditions.

However, as a taxpayer, I must side with those who say that now is not the time to take on such a huge, expensve project. The money is not there! Right now the school system is operating on millions less than it needs. Where do those who are pleading for a new school think the money will come from? Do they think there is an untapped source somewhere? The County Council is dealing sensibly with the issue. Someday, probably, we will be in betterr economic circumstances, and the school can be funded. Now, though, is not the time.

I wish more people would travel down Rt. 13 into Virginia and see some of the schools down there. Come on now, if you think Bennett is bad, I know many of you have seen some of these schools as you drive by. Never forget where you came from.

It's genuinely very difficult in this full of activity life to listen news on TV,
therefore I just use web for that purpose, and get the most recent information.
