Young Adults Opt To Live With Parents

WASHINGTON - Nearly one in five men between 25 to 34 lives with his parents, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Between 2005 and 2011, young adults increasingly put off finding their own places for the convenience and relative bargain of staying at home.

The trend was especially pronounced among men, where the percentage who lived with their parents jumped from 14 percent to 19 percent.

But the shift cannot be entirely pinned on economic realities.

I believe that is because of the cost of living is to high and they do not make enough money to live on there own.

Young adults don't have a choice in the matter. When I was growing up, multi-generational households existed, but they were few. With the economy running the way it is today, it will become more of the norm.

Sonny realizes that it's a good deal. Often, he pays no rent. He gets Mom's cooking and lots of other amenities (e.g. clothes probably washed), so what's the hurry to leave?

I was on my own at 17 years old. If they are 18 or have graduated college you should kick their lazy butts out. You have raised them through college and now it is time for them to make their own way in the world. They shouldn't be living at home at their parents expense. So kick them out and make them get a job or live on the streets, And stop being a burden on their old parents.
