Experts Say N.Y. Police Dept. Isn’t Policing Itself

Seven narcotics investigators are convicted of planting drugs on people to meet arrest quotas. Eight current and former patrol officers are charged with smuggling guns into the state. Another is charged with making a false arrest, apparently as a favor for his cousin. Three more are convicted of robbing a perfume warehouse.

NYC has about 35,000 cops and maybe 150 are found to be crooked. That's a damn small percentage. Let's keep this in perspective.

When you are forced to lower your hiring standards, these things happen.

8:46....what world are dreaming in? "maybe 150"? LOL?! I guess you qualified it by saying "found" to be crooked.....10,000 more haven yet been "found" (caught). Ticket fixing, drug planting, bribe taking, assaulting, drug trafficking, PROTECTING drug traffic, extortion, robbery, murder, accessory to murder, sex assaults, and on and on. "Maybe 150?" Better add a couple of zero's....You might recall the big heroin trade in New York back in the seventies. HUNDREDS of cops caught taking payoffs, USING heroin, killing rivals, selling drugs, covering up related crimes, etc. Oh yeah, I guess New York cops have turned over a new leaf. And Santa Claus will be here next month, too.
