A Letter To The Editor 10-18-11

Hi Joe-

I snapped this photo the other day of the work going on at the old mall.  I remember that the county purchased part of this land, but the money they are spending (at this time) seems to be wrong.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this project and others that are in the pipeline should not be part of the cause of starving our children's educational needs.  Maybe these projects were already on the books, but I and many others would agree, education would be a priority.  Just a thought....

Fortunately or unfortunately, the money for the parking lot is from a state source and not from the county budget. I was told "use or lose it".

It is the land for the parking at the Civic Center.

The county purchased the property. It has to be surveyed, blacktopped, lighted for ALL those people who attend what events at the civic center. We can deliate money for this wastefulness BUT threaten to cut schools for our students to four days, cut the security for our schools cut the teachers and crown all these students into one room SO WE CAN HAVE A PARKING LOT. dont make sence.

All I hear about is education , the students get out and are stupid as a brick.
Yeh ,let's spend more money on these kids that don't give a crap.
Let's build them a beautiful school like Bennett with the same education experience. What a waste!
Just a thought!

If you know anything at all about economics, you know you must spend money to maintain your income-producing property. The Civic Center generates enough income to support itself AND help fund the County Council's other responsibilities, thereby reducing our tax burden. In addition, it's activities (dog shows, wrestling, etc.) bring millions of tourist dollars to the area to help local residents make an income to support their families. This money for the project was a grant from the state and could not be used for anything else.

Instead of just giving "lip service" about the schools, try getting involved. How many of you have called your school or talked to the teacher and VOLUNTEERED your time or anything else?? As the saying goes, "It takes a village to raise a child."

DId it ever dawn on you idiots running the gov around here .. if the "use it or lose" a term you throw around like a drunken sailor who just got paid in singapore.. makes me sick..What IF..every swinging idiot in each MD county said NO NO NO ..Hey then maybe they may actually have money for what they really NEED like educating our kids..If any politician is not for slashing and burning down all the un needed expenditures like this joke of a parking lot and TIFS..he will never get my vote

8:29pm If I were running for any office, I wouldn't want your vote. Education is important, yes indeed it is, but there are other things which make a community great. And, by the way, instead of b_ _ _hing, why don't you run and stop calling those who have idiots.
