Dogs Can Join Owners Outside Restaurants July 1

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WUSA) -- Starting in July, you can bring your dog with you to Maryland restaurants with outdoor dining as long restaurant owners give their approval and provide written notice to the local health department.

The Dining Out Growth Act of 2011 passed the Maryland House in March and the Maryland Senate voted in April for the bill.

The new law takes effect July 1. Dogs must be on a leash, must be with an adult and cannot be left unattended.

Great. Now restaurants are going to have to deal with lawsuits stemming from someone's large dog chomping on someone's poodle. Good idea on paper, bad idea in practice.

Whose lame brain idea what this anywa? Why should people who are not dog lovers have to dine w/animals? What about children getting hurt by strange animals and what if they have fleas or do not have their shots? Who will clean up their mess? I don't want dog hair in my food or on my clothing when I am dining out. What is this world coming to when we have to give rights to dogs? Don't we have better things to worry about? Absolutely ridiculous! Nothing makes sense in this country or state anymore and no common sense in Annapolis.

Peope can't pay there mortgages and we're making it a priority to vote on a bill about taking your dog to an outdoor dining facility!?!? Am I the only one seeing the problem here? What a joke!
