Visual arts students in the Wicomico County Visual and Performing Arts Program put their talents to work for a good cause with a silent auction of student art, with proceeds going to the American Red Cross for tsunami relief. Students donated 17 original works of art (plus one reproduction) for the auction, for which bids were taken until the end of the day Friday, April 15.
"We can't thank you enough for your generous donations," said VPA teacher Hyoe Choi, on behalf of fellow VPA teachers Michael Morris and Julia Kohut and the VPA students. "Our students and instructors have been excited to see our artworks having bids on them. ... Without your great support, it would not have been this successful and meaningful to all of us."
Winners were notified by email on Monday, April 18. Checks should be made out to Wicomico High School and marked "Operation Japan" in the memo line. The school will write one check to the Red Cross.
