CHAIR PETER O’MALLEY STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER

ANNAPOLIS – Maryland Democratic Party Chair Peter O’Malley released the following statement on learning of the death of Governor William Donald Schaefer:


"William Donald Schaefer was a remarkable individual and true leader whose unwavering commitment and passion to public service made a real difference in the lives of all Marylanders. From his service in World War II, his work transforming Baltimore as Mayor, to his years of leadership in Annapolis as Governor and then Comptroller, William Donald Schaefer fought tenaciously for Maryland's future. Governor Schaefer's forward-thinking vision was coupled with a deep compassion and steadfast sense of duty to the citizens he served. We should all be grateful for his lifelong service to our great state."

And now our current inept governor is trying trying to clean up the "outhouse" of Maryland with the new septic laws.
Mr Shaefer was a great mayor and did many wonderful things for Baltimore and we could use that leadership here on the shore, but his comment calling the eastern shore the outhouse of Maryland will live on in infamy.

I grew up not far from where this upgrade took place; attended Cardinal Gibbons in the city.

He did transform that area and made it more presentable. You do not have RATS running around the size of medium size dogs. However, he pushed the low life people out of the city and into the County area; now this area is trashy and run down looking with big crime.
