This turned out to be nothing. Most of the equipment has cleared now. The fire dept just blowing a little smoke out. Was nothing when they went on scene.

Joe to follow up with 7:10 PM you need to do a breaking story on the Salisbury Fire Department and it's continuing troubles. As of today 4 career members of the Salisbury Fire Department have resigned from their careers in less than 2 weeks. Joe that is a significant amount of employees jumping ship in a troubled fire department.

My heart is broken because a long time dedicated employee of the Salisbury Fire Department quit today. Lt. Lorenzo Cropper turned in his resignation today. When a good man like that leaves the city that speaks volumes for the poor leadership in the city and the fire department. Jeff Simpson is no better than David See, Rick Hoppes and Bill Gordy. Jim Ireton and the 5 stooges on the city council make me want to puke!

Yes, they are leaving left and right. Too bad it does not have the leadership that should be in any good fire department. Those that are left are a bunch of back stabbers including the new chief. He won't be here long either. Mark my word he will go also, just give him time and he will see just how badly this fire department is run. Get rid of Hoppes and Gordy and few more and things could be turned around, but only with "good leadership"!!!! Those that are leaving are all good men and good leaders. Too bad for SFD.
Four employees resign in less than 2 weeks says a lot about the leadership in the fire department. I didn't think that new guy was much of a person much less a leader the first time I met him. The fire department is just like the City of Salisbury and it is continuing to go down hill fast.
Just a few minutes ago I saw a Salisbury Fire Chiefs car speeding like a bat out of Hell down Coulburn Mill Road in Fruitland onto South Division Street towards Salisbury. What in the world is going on for that person to nearly run me off the road during these dangerous icy conditions. Who ever that was needs to loose their license and be fired. What was a Salisbury car doing in Fruitland anyway?
SOUNDS TO ME LIKE, "A new broom sweeps clean!" More power to the new Chief. If you don't want to work here under the Chief's direction the right thing to do is leave.
That is one of the biggest problems the Fire Department has always had, the employees want to run the show or tell the Chief what to do or how to do it. I'm glad the new Chief isn't taking that.
Maybe "CHANGE" is on the way. Thank you Mayor, good call so far.

Last time I looked, Coulburn Mill was not in Fruitland. Which icy conditions are you talking about, the ones from Tues AM?
Most could resign anyway , they can sleep at home and they wouldn't be taking up bed space.

I hope they have another ship to jump to because believe me there are no jobs paying even $10.00 an hour in the area. Additionally I was told that within 2 weeks there is goin to be a major layoff announced. Things are bad everywhere not just at the Fire Department. If you have a job be thankful, I have two friend who lost their jobs and their houses.

Anon 11:46 PM thinks running Lorenzo Cropper out the door is a great thing? So which RACIST PIG are you. There was nothing wrong with Lt. Cropper. He is a great guy and always did a great job. I hope he is extremely successful in his new career and you racist pigs are left on the street to file bankruptcy and foreclosure(if you even own a home)!
The new fire chief is just as racist as David See, Bill Gordy and Rick Hoppes. Way to go Lore Chambers and Shaney Shields.
Cropper and Davis have been talking about retiring for a couple years now.
It appears a safety and accountabality position was created, an asst chief was put in the position and he then "resigined? Next they will fill that position with a vollie to "save money". Just as they are using vollies to take extra money from the career guys with open positions during duty hours.
