Let me assure you, the defense attorneys, (4 of them) are extremely long winded and day after day of listening to repetitive questions asked and answered by Detectives and Officers in this case, (in my honest opinion) the defense attorneys are attempting to make a mockery of this case.
Yesterdays suppression hearing, (which was supposed to be completed in one day) has now been extended until January 26th. Quite a bit of arguing went on because the defense attorneys representing Thomas Leggs continued to challenge the key eye witness testimony, claiming they had Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and other major disabilities. Once this information came out, Sarah's mother Jennifer Foxwell became very emotional and excused herself from the Court Room.
Their defense was, how could this witness pick Leggs out of a line up, (all named Tommy) when he was familiar to that household and family. While this may be true, the State stated that the witness hadn't seen Thomas Leggs for a minimum of 30 days AND that the witness testified Leggs was the person who removed Sarah Foxwell from the home the evening of December 22nd 2009.
The defense wanted the lineup removed from the case but a final decision couldn't be made by the honorable Judge as this hearing was simply going on too long and couldn't be completed that day.
There was a lot of time spent on the cell phone issues as well. While the defense kept picking at straws on a total of three cell phones, two of them were non working cell phones. There's still much more to cover in this suppression hearing and one can only wonder how long this trial will actually take, especially when you have so many long winded defense attorneys.
This is just the beginning and let me assure you, sitting on hard oak benches for several hours at a time is just not something many would be very comfortable with. That being said, I sat and wondered why the accused was allowed to sit in a cushioned and comfortable seat while the victims were subjected to hard oak benches. It just doesn't seem very fair.

I thought about her on Christmas day alot, didnt bring it up but watching my grand babies opening presents and enjoying the day she crossed my mind, had to excuse myself and go in the bathroom to get the tears out.
Was Jennifer Foxwell emotional because she knows she drank during her pregnancy with her children. Or was she emotional because she is now 6 months pregnant with another child. By the way. She's still drinking and smoking while pregnant with her next child. When will she ever learn.

Drinking and smoking had nothing to do with what happened to Sarah. She is still a Mom. Leggs was going to get that child no matter what. This family has suffered enough. We all make mistakes
If the guilt has not driven her to the edge of madness then she has no conscience. Now she has entered the abyss, very few can handle that. Very few ever make it back from there.

11:44 - Very true! I watched WBOC news, and there wasn't any "news". Except for a clip on bed bugs, a man who golfs, and a non-informational segman on the weather. This is the only place to come to for real news. I wouldn't be surprised if WBOC comes to this blog for ideas on news stories.
As much as most of us would like to smash his skull in with a cinder block the defense attr are doing there jobs. Everone in this country is entitled to a proper defense, including this piece of garbage. The attr will do everything they can to have reasons for appeal later.
Regardless of what her mother did or is doing No man should ever touch a child. Absolutly sick. He should be killed. It is what it is. Touch a child and die. The thought of what that poor girl went through that night sickens me. He should have been thrown in the general population while awaiting trial. We wouldn't be talking about his trial right now. I hope our tax dollars aren't paying for 4 defense lawyers.
Joe: This is a death penalty case and the problem with death penalty cases is that for the next 20 years this case will be picked apart in both state and federal courts for the slightest error. The first thing Leggs will do on appeal is argue that his attorneys were incompetent. Hell, F. Lee Bailey was post-convicted. If the attorneys do not ask every question, object to all evidence offered by the state, fail to file any motion, regardless of how frivolous it may seem, some court somewhere, will give Leggs a new trial and we can all go through this again.
Defending a person is one thing making a mockery out of this case
is frightening.
Court always seems like a mockery, its the process. The entire criminal system is frightening.

WE, the public, are paying for the defense attys. Hence the name, public defenders.
We pay whenever anyone uses a public defender.
They are doing their JOB. The states atty. will do his JOB. The jury will do their JOB.

Jennifer was recently evicted from her last residence in Pittsville. This was the second time she was in the process but her church bvailed her out and refused to help her this time. Jennifer is smoking and drinking and this will be her 10th child with at least 5 different fathers. She should stay away from Station 7 happy hour if she wants to hide her drinking problem.
6:11, I know that public defenders are paid by tax dollars, but seriously, 4 of them??? I am no expert of the legal system, maybe 4 public defenders is standard on a death penalty trial. I do agree, attacking Jennifer and even the public defenders lacks class and is uncalled for. Whether they want to or not, the public defenders have to do their job and I am sure they are put in some "difficult situations" that I wouldn't want to be in.
As far as the understanding of due process, yes, he is innocent until proven guilty, however, in my opinion, I have a hunch he is guilty. I have faith in the State's Attorney and believe they probably have a sound case since they waited so long to indict him with murder 1 and are going for the death penalty.

I wish the personal attacks on this lady would not be posted, doesn't she have enough to deal with? I don't have confidence in the charges, SA or evidence. I think the DA's are probably experts in different areas and will attack things to either win the case when it goes to trial or make a case for future appeals. If this guy is guilty and gets off on a technicality, it will be sad. If he gets off on poor evidence, shame on Lewis and the LEO's. If he gets off on strategy after we have retained the SA as a special prosecuter, shame on us. I'll be glad when this is over. Still praying for the family. They are the ones most affected by this terrible event.
At 5:18 am- Why would she get a tubal? She wouldn't be able to get all the welfare that our tax dollara are paying for. I have read many comments about how we are all sinners and being judgemental towards her. Whatever. I know that we are all sinners but when does one learn from their mistakes. I don't know the thinking behind 4 defense lawyers either. Maybe because it's such a serious charge and they are seeking the death penalty or leaving no chance for appeal on incompetent representation.

What is your purpose of posting all the vile comments against Sarah's Mother? Her only involvement seems to be she birthed Sarah. I see no need to post all the gossip for Sarah's siblings and siblings school friends to read. Those children have enough to endure without you adding fuel to the fire. Just my opinion.

It's called my 1st amendment right. I have the right to express whatever I heard and I even have the right to my opinion. I have been very careful in what I have chosen to express. If you have a problem with it and you're such a good friend of Jennifer Foxwell, perhaps the next time around you'll take the time to be there as a sign of support.
As for the comments coming in against Jennifer. That too is every one's right to freedom of speech. Jennifer Foxwell personally lied to me about her being pregnant and in fact cursed me out for allowing such comments. I expressed in that post under comments that Jennifer denied being pregnant, yet she told several people she was, all of which I personally know, believe and trust.
Jennifer Foxwell does NOT have custody of her children and there's a very good reason why.

Yes I do have a problem with the fact that Foxwell only birthed the children, but I also have a problem that those precious children could be reading these statements against their mother. Kids can be cruel and classmates will be gossiping over these statements.
Sarah's siblings have had a rough time and I see no reason to fuel the flames. Yes you have first admendment rights, but I was hoping where children are concerned you would consider them first and foremost. You are not hurting Jennifer with your remarks - you are hurting the children.

Four defense attorneys - an educated guess would be that one is an expert in capital crimes cases, one is an expert in Constitutional Law, one would be responsible for jury selection and the final guy is probably the lead guy pulling it all together. And yes, he is innocent until proven guilty. I hope there is DNA evidence because Maryland will not be putting him on death row if it is not there.

anonymous 6:40, I'll tell you how. She didn't pay rent for at least 6 months, not with her own earned income. The owner of the property can only take so much as they have payments to make as well and have to answer to the bank.
If you follow her history, this landlord is extremely lucky they didn't have their property destroyed.
The last evection was actually around Christmas Day, believe it or not. She conned her Church into paying her back rent after she had been in jail for not paying child support.

she takes off 2 to 3 days a week at work. but all we hear is " its not her fault". its always someone elses faught.
